I had no idea there was anyone called The Captain other than our own Richard Bishop. So...Yeah...I got nothing.
If Captain Bishop got a promotion, would he be Major Bishop or Captain Archbishop?

Considering this is an online community, I think the appropriate rank would be the same rank as James Cook's: Post-Captain! (Not actually a promotion, though).

Rogers. I could never stand the jingoistic Walker; the ugly American writ large. You can just bet that if he really existed, he would have been leading the storming of your Capitol earlier this year.

Barry Allen or Wally West? Which One is the Flash for you? I grew up with Barry but it was Wally who really captured the fun and essence of being the World's Fastest Man. And many of Wally's aspects in being the Flash have become part of the modern history so much that any iteration in television or movies has become a hodge podge mixture of both.
And I prefer to not even read or ever acknowledge the stupidity of Wally being a killer.

Barry.
I'm a member of the Old B*st*rds Club, I guess.

Both. I think they were both fine Flashes. As I stated somewhere else, I read a fair bit of the Bates/Novick Flash. But I was also fine with Wally taking over.
What I don't like is Geoff Johns' obsession with everything being like it was when he was 12, but darker and grittier.

Jay Garrick. I know it's corny, but I liked his ersatz-Mercury get-up.
After him, (not a "Flash", but...) Johnny Chambers, aka Johnny Quick... 3X2(9YZ)4A !

Does XS count?
I don't think she was ever called Flash, but I liked her eagerness and cheerful attitude. Plus she's part of the Allen family.
As far as scarlet speedsters go, I never really knew Jay (before my time) or Wally (after my time). Jay was always "the old Flash from the Golden Age" and Wally was Kid Flash.
So... Barry by default.
What's that? Bart? You mean he actually became the Flash? What the..?

My cousin Barry, of course.
As RR said, Jay was before my time and Wally was after.

I mean if we are going beyond the scope of the initial question then it's Jay Garrick. Because I've traditionally been just a nut for GA characters.

DC doesn't have a single Golden Age character that hasn't aged like a fine wine. I love Doctor Fate the most and wish that he was better integrated into the current universe. They still haven't done much with the Paul Levitz DCYou revamp or it might be a situation akin to the New 52 Shazam! where Johns worked on it and only he himself could work on it

PS: If we are expanding this to favorite speedsters, please include me in on Jay Garrick, chem student and gridiron star, and especially on Johnny Quick, one of those Golden Age characters I first encountered in a Flash annual and was immediately taken with.
(And yes, I tried repeating his magic formula --3X2(9YZ)4A -- several times in as manyw ays as I could think of, hoping it might work on me...)

Favorite Torch? Which One? Android Jim Hammond or Human Johnny Storm? My choice goes to the original flaming fireball of World War II Jim Hammond who deserves better treatment than Marvel has shown. Cap & Namor get all the attention while Hammond gets hosed with stupid power downgrades. Show the Android some respect! He is the 1st and best hot shot in town!

It's hard for me to vote for Johnny Storm because he's such an ass. Hammond by default.
