Facts remains that Jack Kirby working with Stan Lee created more characters than Ditko and Jack did the initial artwork and even writing for them proves without the shadow of the doubt that Jack is Mr. Marvel Comics 2 ... and Stan Lee is Mr. Marvel Comics 1. Ditko is a legend in Marvel Comics and Kirby is both a Icon and a Legend ... hands down.
Incidentally, I've never Jack Kirby Collector, but the next issue will be at my LCS. I can't wait. Has anyone here read it?
I think it's nearing its 80th issue. Hard to know how you can fill nearly 80 issues about one person, but I will read it and enjoy it, I'm sure.
Been collecting since the very 1st issue when it was a small and simple fan idea from John Morrow. Lots of really interesting features over the years and always great pencil art from Kirby being highlighted from collectors. Historically speaking, there is TONS of topics to discuss with Kirby's vast output of comic book work. Some nice insights from people who worked with him and lots of retrospective discussion over his story design and layout style, characterizations and about Kirby's life in general. Makes for a good biographical read and did I mention the stunning art?
Some issues can be hit or miss at times but every single issue you will learn something new and find the King's art presented in glorious black and white or color as printed and many as he pencilled it without changes or embellishments from inkers.
Gimme a home on the ol' prairie where I can sit in my rockin' chair reading my favorite old comic books of yesteryear!
