Yes it is Shax. The tone itself is eerie, creepy and weird throughout the movie, just not much there for keeping the interest for the long haul. If only it had been a Hammer creation rather than a low budget Italian picture.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)
This is my 2nd time that I watched this movie and the last time it was in mid 90's with friends from work. It was on one of my channels and I can't remember what channel it was. I'm not a fan of any movie dealing with Zombies and never will. It was a decent horrifying movie and I have no favorites who is the best actor and/or actress at all and I just had a hard time enjoying this movie about a small town in Pennsylvania that a group of that got together at a local farmhouse to figure out a plan to do something about this menace. I just find it very disturbing, horrifying, and downright creepy because the nature of this film. I watched this film and I had a hard time watching it to the very end of it. This tells me that I'm not a fan of Zombies. I rather have Vampires over Zombies any day of week, month, year, and decades over this film.
I just can't single out one character that I like and I just find the script of this film so weird because I have closed captioning and I just can't figure out what's going on here ... Remember, I haven't read any books on Zombies in my life because I just associated with them being weird creatures that do harm and can't understand the nature of their business.
Anyway, in closing ... this movie is a groundbreaking approach to do something totally different kind of horror to wet the appetite of horror fans that wanting something different. I truly understand that; and being non-judgmental about this movie and all that ... I give it a solid B because of its originality and uniqueness. I know there are sequels and colored versions of this kind of film and I'm going to pass them up because I just don't care about Zombies.

The Cyclops (1957)Lon Chaney Jr. was the only star that had clout in this movie and the three others they are: James Craig as Russ Bradford Gloria Talbott as Susan Winter Tom Drake as Lee Brand These three along with Martin 'Marty' Melville being played by Lon Chaney Jr. are looking for Bruce Barton who played the Cyclops and through Susan's deduction that the Cyclops is really her lost boyfriend of whom that she planning on getting married and all that and they (four of them) were forced down and Marty discovered that the whole area that they landed was full of uranium and the area is surrounded by giant lizards, snakes, hawks, rats, and a giant-size 25 foot tall Cyclops and they all tried to get away and at the same time looking for Mr. Barton and she founded him and had to leave him there due to untimely death and it's pretty simple storyline, nice special effects, and a fair to good script to follow. Fairly simple movie to watch and enjoy and the Cyclops pictured below is a pretty decent scary monster that stands at 25 feet tall. I've give it a decent grade of B Minus. I'm watching another movie ... and that's report coming your way in a hour or so.

The Thing from Another World (1951)I have seen this movie about 3-4 times in my life and it's a simple movie to follow that's involved a remote Air Force Base were sent to investigate an ufo that landed in the up north of Anchorage, Alaska and they had to deal with this Thing being played by James Arness that terrorizing everyone and poor Dr. Arthur Carrington, being played by Robert Cornthwaite was hoping to save that Thing from destruction and they tried everything to destroy it. However they did and menace was over and very few soldiers got injured and Dr. Carrington got the worst of it and he managed to survive it. It was an intense movie, full of horror, excitement, and some romance of Captain Patrick Hendry and Nikki Nicholson that kept this movie in a humane way and it's refreshing to see some of that going on in this movie. It was a decent 1951 movie and loaded of brave and remote outfit of men dealing with a Thing that no one do not know what to do with it and how to destroy {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{IT!}By Electricity ... I really enjoyed this exciting movie and it's packed a punch full of intense excitement and all that. I'll give this movie a solid B PLUS because everyone involved in this movie did their part well and total cooperation of dealing with this mess and the unknown force form the Thing from Another World. One of my favorite movies in the 50's and always be.

Well darned if brutalis got me itching to watch Nightmare Castle (1965) again, and I have no regrets. My previous impression of the film stands. Almost entirely unremarkable except for the eerie tone that pervades the whole thing, accentuated by that piano tune that plays endlessly and which has been running through my head on a loop since watching it again. I STILL love it. Also watched Hotel Transylvania (2012) with the kids. I didn't love it when I watched it the first time, but it's grown on me over the years, less for anything the film specifically does right, and more for the overall concept of all our favorite monsters living in an elaborate hotel together. It's cute and familiar, if nothing else, and I always enjoy revisiting it for that reason.

Hotel movie is great with the kids and I have seen it last year with my grand nephews and grand nieces and they all crave it. They watched the movie together and the reason for that I was babysitting them and that's give us an excuse to watch it that night Shax.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923)
This one grows on me with each repeated viewing. I neither care of Lon Chaney's makeup nor over-acting in this one, but so much else in this film works beautifully. Patsy Ruth Miller's performance as Esmeralda utterly rocks by the close, and (most importantly) the elaborate sets give an amazing sense of the period, truly making each corridor, rooftop, and gargoyle feel like a piece of fifteenth century France.
Hunchback is my second favorite book of all time, and this adaptation doesn't even come close, but I thoroughly enjoy it for what it is, anyway.

Double Bill today The Blob 1958 & 19881958 Trailer 1988 Trailer These two are pretty decent films and nothing fancy of the invincible blob running rampart and the teens and a rebellious teen (2nd movie) saved the day. It's takes to stop this thing and they discovered CO2 to stop it. They discovered that by accident inside a freezer and it's up to the young citizens to rally the townsfolk to stop it. Lots of people gathered up anything that has CO2 and defeat this thing. Both films has its moments and I really prefer the original over the 1988 version. Steve McQueen is in the 1st one and he was quite good and that's pretty much sums up the star power. The 1988 version is okay and that the 1st time that I've seen it and it's a nice send off to the original and I liked the red tanker scene very much and flaming meteor as well too. That's pretty much it and the original is more a classic and the later is more a retro version of the 1958 movie. Both films are good ... 1958 version gets a B and the 2nd one (1988 retro) gets a C plus.

The dangers of having to share the TV...
Halloweentown (2005)
Don't. Just don't. Even for a made-for-TV Disney film, it's pretty lousy.
Don't tell my girlfriend I said that.

I actually don't mind the first one, I don't think I've seen it since it came out but I remember thinking it was decent. It kind of reminded me of Mr. Boogedy, which I loved as a kid.

John Carpenter's The Thing (1982)
This is not what I expected an organism invade in your body and mutated into a murderous thing that affects you and your closest associates and even the dogs in the movies that pulls your sleds. It is a fast paced movie starring Kurt Russell and they all did their parts extremely well as they went out and discovered another expedition that was the starting point of this ramage that affects their solidarity remote and cold outpost and they all fighting hard to survive and sometimes realize that survival is not an easy thing to do. It's kept me and my girlfriend on the edge of our sofa as we gets treated to occasional gore and bloodletting and sometimes we are watching a vampire flick instead. By time the movie was over we were both tired and decided not to watch the Mummy movie on Svengoolie and visit our dear friends over desserts and coffee instead.
It was an action packed movie full of intensity, drama, suspense, and occasional graphic horrifying scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat. I wished the language was better ... but, you got to understand that and expect the language to be crude, rude, and not your everyday spoken language that you hear now and then.
You really have to pay attention to this movie and missing a 20 seconds scene can be important and that's why this film is design to keep you glued to the screen and all that. I have seen this film back in 1988; six years after its came out and that's the last time that I've seen this movie and I do enjoyed the acting in this film and I just wish they made it more like the original movie of where an actual "The Thing" existed ... like James Arness did that role back in 1951.
Anyway, this movie is excellent and the acting all around is good and the script is an original and that alone gives this movie a B plus.

King Kong (1933)After dessert with our friends and drinking too much coffee ... we went back to watch King Kong on Turner Classic Movies at 3am in the morning. I just got back home and thinking of taking a long nap after I finished this post. The TrailerI have seen this movie gazillion times ... my girlfriend hadn't seen this movie since 1990 and she wanted to see this movie too and totally forgot how beautiful Fay Wray looks like. She finds the part of the monstrous ape wreaking havoc in New York City the best and I find the Jungle Scenes are my favorites and you just can't go wrong with any scenes in this movie and the airplanes and everything else is iconic itself. Kong is truly the 8th Wonder of the World On a personal note, this movie ... I try my best to watch it at least once a year and I have seen this gem at least 50 times in my life and never, ever failed to entertains me. I saw this movie for the 1st time at the age of 10 with my three older brothers and they were surprised that I enjoyed watching it.
