Just got my first ever smartphone (yes, really): The Samsung Galaxy 4 (yes, the 4). I'm very good with technology, but I never had a need for a smartphone and am only now making the switch because it pretty much costs the same as having a non-"smart" cell phone.
So the Galaxy uses the Android platform. I've already figured out how to download and play old video game console games on it for free. What other cool tricks/apps/functions have you found for your Android? Share them here!

No tricks, but something I believe you're going to like
Yelp, especially if you travel. Closest gas station, closest Mexican food joint, closest hospital, airport, car rental, whatever you need. You can even search for specific menu items. I'd have never known where to get okonomiyaki otherwise. Everything rated and categorized by price, with pics of the establishment and it's wares usually available. I have found several awesome restaurants through Yelp, and I use it non stop when on a leisure trip where "The gas station closest to the offramp" isn't where I plan on having dinner. I've also had an occasion or two where I visited someplace without using Yelp, regretted it, and upon looking them up saw that I would have been warned had I checked the app first.
One thing though, looking up cheap motels on Yelp has scared me from staying in any cheap motel anywhere ever. I'm never looking up a cheap motel again. Not a single one of them has reviews that are any less than horrifying.

I have a Galaxy Note 3. I use it to read this board, Chris Sims' columns and digital comics. Also, I put a Batgirl wallpaper on it.
I'm not technologically gifted at all.

I'm the only adult I know without a cell phone.

Welcome to the club! I recommend an app called Comics Reader. Easy to use and a great way to read classics on the go! Excuse the poor picture quality, the glare of the phone made it come out blurry I think:

I'm the only adult I know without a cell phone. I haven't had one in seven years. I never used it, and didn't need it. My wife has an Iphone that she uses all the time, so if we take a long trip or need a cell on the road, we have it, but I have no need or reason to have one myself. We considered ditching the landline at the house and getting one for me about a year ago, but decided against it. If I do get a mobile device, I'd rather send the money on a tablet, as I just never would use the phone. -M

If I do get a mobile device, I'd rather send the money on a tablet, as I just never would use the phone. -M I keep a cell phone on me largely for emergencies, and with two small children, emergencies happen. I tried for years to stick to the simplest, most basic phone, but over the past few years, all the major companies have stopped supporting the older generation networks that the older phones work on, so I've seen the reliability of service decrease immensely. It got to the point where my 3G phone got reception less than 50% of the time and was entirely unreliable. Plus, smartphones have gotten cheaper. So I finally upgraded. Phone is a lot more reliable, though you can tell the actual "phone" aspect of the phone was an afterthought. Welcome to the club! I recommend an app called Comics Reader. Easy to use and a great way to read classics on the go! Excuse the poor picture quality, the glare of the phone made it come out blurry I think: That's one door I just don't want to open. Reading comics is a sacred experience to me, to be taken up only when a comfortable, quiet spot is available and hot tea or iced water (depending upon the weather) is near. I don't want to be tempted to start reading comics at traffic lights Incidentally, let's pause a moment to appreciate the weirdness of looking at our monitors displaying an image of a photograph of a cell phone screen displaying a scanned image of a mass-produced comic book displaying a reproduced image of an original art page.

After not being able to buy Wytches #1 the other day, I'm getting closer and closer to moving to digital, and then only buying nice trades and HC's of my absolute favorites.
