Gaumont optioned Usagi in February of 2018, but Usagi has been optioned before. It looks like it might really go the distance this time.

I'd love to see this come out, Usagi's world is so wonderful and animation would be a great way to explore it. Ever since I saw Samurai Jack on Cartoon Network I've wished that Genndy Tartakovsky would adapt Usagi in a similar manner.
Not really related at all, but over lunch today a friend and I were discussing Usagi and the topic morphed into dreaming about an Usagi mmorpg where you got to design your own anthropomorphic samurai or ninja and explore Usagi's world that way. It'll probably never happen but it'd be awesome.

Interesting that there has been absolutely no news about this in over a year. Dead in the water?

Just saw this too!
Interesting that the series won't be about Usagi himself.

Just saw this too! Interesting that the series won't be about Usagi himself. I can see where a series set in feudal japan would be considered a limited draw for potential viewership. Placing into a futuristic science fiction fantasy setting means more video gaming kids may actually watch and follow the series as well maybe spreading the word to other kids. Let's face it, history is NOT a large draw for kids. Usagi is primarily an adult/fan driven project of love from Stan that we get to enjoy and appreciate. If a offshoot cartoon provides income/revenue for Stan that is great! Means he can afford to keep on creating more adventures for us true fans and not worry should sales decrease.

Sounds futuristic to me. And saying it is Usagi's descendant, sounds to me like future lingo rather than saying ancestor which has more historical context.

Yes !
It couldn't happen to a more perfect rabbit samurai, and Stan Sakai, one of the most deserving creators in the business.
Can't wait.
I will get Netflix for this.
