What was in this giant stack o' comics I got this week.
MULTIVERSITY: SOCIETY OF SUPER-HEROES
**** out of 5
A great romp with a good cast of characters. I loved this quote from Doc Fate, "But in this room of very dangerous things, that comic book is the most dangerous thing of all!" Vandal Savage was his usual wonderful self and it's always nice to see Abin Sur. Chris Sprouse was great in all aspects from the city to the jungle to the characters.
ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #17
***
"Seed of Destruction" I still don't care for OMAC, but any excuse to get Steve Rude art is worth it.
"Ghosts of Krypton" It was OK, but I didn't really care for the art.
"Mystery Box" The comics goes out on a high note with this fun little lark.
BATMAN '66
***
Penguin comes to the rescue of sorts when his partner in crime Black Widow goes a little too far. I like the comment about all the various abandoned buildings Gotham City has. While the story was fine, the art was mediocre at best.
BATMAN '66 MEETS THE GREEN HORNET #5
****
No problems with the art here as Ty Templeton continues to excel. Robin gets to save the team from the trap this time and a way is found for these duos to finally work together. The little touches that make this comic like the tv shows continue to make it mini series worth having.
TINY TITANS: RETURN TO THE TREEHOUSE #5
***1/2
Fun things from this comic include, boys have to wear pink slippers to not touch Paradise Island, Cheetah painting the Invisible Jet with camouflage paint so no one can find it, Wonder Woman's friend Jumpa, Cheetah's friend Chauncey, Trigon's practice run to take over the world, Deathstroke brings pancakes and coconut Earth fighting it out with orange Earth.
SENSATION COMICS #2
***
Wonder Woman uses her least known power to save the day from Dr. Psycho in a very good opening story. It was good to see Marcus To on the art side again. The backup wasn't as good, but a nice glimpse into the pride of Hippolyta for Diana.
FLASH: SEASON ZERO #1
**
The plot didn't draw me in very well. It seems a lot like early Wally West Flash or the 1990 tv version. I like Phil Hester's art on occasion, but a Flash comic isn't well suited to his style for me. Maybe I'll like it more after I see the tv show.
