I went into our local Meijers today looking for the DC Megos that are currently a Meijer's exclusive, and though they had the pegs set up, they didn't have them stocked yet. What I did find was the second wave of Spin Masters DC series. There were lots of new interesting figures, but I only grabbed four-Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Bronze Tiger. I was tempted by Firefly and Killer Moth, but I was limiting myself to four. I don't have pics of mine yet, but here's what Bronze Tiger looked like at Toy Fair, and the released figure is the same... -M

I hadn't purchased anything in some time but got the itch for some Wave 8 Megos. Batouri (the cat) wants to hunt The Fly.

I found two of the new DC Megos at our local Meijer this afternoon... no sign of Superman though. They had some of the other wave 9 stuff (Picard, Data, Stan Lee, Th Fly, Hannibal Lector) but I passed on those. -M

Our Meijer finally restocked, and my wife found the Mego Superman there this morning for me while grocery shopping, so I have completed the DC Mego Trinity... -M

Found this on my travels today. one of the second hand electronics (movies, video games, TVs, vinyl records, etc. as well as toys, action figures and statues) stores near where my wife works (they are clients of hers) often gets comics and vintage sci-fi paperbacks in as well, so I stop in every so often. I hadn't been in in about a year. In that time, they apparently became an official NECA retailer with an direct account from NECA, and had the entire first wave of the Defenders of the Earth line. I wasn't expecting to find that there, and wasn't prepared to drop that much money to get the whole line today, so I just picked up Ming for now. They had no comics of interest, and no sci-fi today, but I got a bunch of the recent DC animated features on DVD for $1 each as well as the Ming figure. -M

Last weekend there was a little toy show at the local mall and I ventured out to that mall for the first time in over a year. I picked up a few Funko items from the show, some of the defunct Dorbz line including the Batman: TAS Batmobile which was a Legion of Collectors exclusive: I also stopped in Hot Topic to get the exclusive Static and Black Hand, as well as one of the Shang-Chis from the movie: Also grabbed a couple of the Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary Pops for Nicole's WW collection:

Had to run an errand to Meijers this morning, and they had these on the pegs in the toy department, so I grabbed them... -M Those cards are so lazy. Considering that most folks are going to keep these unopened, it seems like Mego could have spent a few extra bucks to at least give the cards a vintage look, if nothing else.

Considering that most folks are going to keep these unopened, it seems like Mego could have spent a few extra bucks to at least give the cards a vintage look, if nothing else. They wanted to/ DC licensing rejected it, and mandated this style of trade dress. They want uniform trade dress across all manufacturers. The Star Trek trade dress is the same. It's mandated by Paramount and Paramount rejected Mego's proposal for more retro-inspired trade dress. So this one isn't laziness on Mego's part, it's tone deafness on the licensing department at Warner that oversees DC merch. They look like that because DC licensing wants them to look like that. -M
