We've heard the expression "the power behind the throne," but in this case, I think that we here are fortunate to have a heart behind the throne. Of course that person is, always has been -- and I suspect, always will be, -- shaxper. He serves a complex role here: founder and rescuer, cheerleader and conscience, leader and exemplar. And he navigates those roles with respect and humility. I nominate shax for his absolute loyalty and dedication to the community that he has forged. If I could, I'd retire the award in his name. Don't know who could ever out-shax shax! PS: Don't you know how great a teacher he must be?

I've definitely been less a presence on the board this year than ever before, and I have to acknowledge that the moderator team is really what steers the ship these days (they do a hell of a job behind the scenes and each deserve recognition for it), but thank you. I'm truly touched.

This is always a hard one. I think many on here would qualify. This year I would have to say: codystarbuck. His threads are full of information but are also humorous and positive.

My nomination goes for The Captain for his honesty and heartfelt connection with other members in every thread he posts in. He has the ability for reminding us all that life and every one of us is important and the merit of being a member here on the CCF is the joys and pleasures of interacting with people like him. And his dad insights/interactions are wonderful and loving tributes to himself and his family and life.

This is not easy because I would like to nominate at least three people. But I'll nominate Prince Hal . The good Prince adds insight and humor to the conversations. He's been a valued member since day one. And his Comic Memories thread is a gem.

This is always the toughest category -- there are so many good folks here at the CCF who deserve a nomination. Alas, I can only nominate one member, so I'll nominate Roquefort Raider. He's intelligent, witty, and always the height of civility, whenever he posts -- even on thorny issues in the Politics thread. He's thoughtful, supportive of others, and, in his work as a moderator, he does a lot behind the scenes to make sure that things here run smoothly. In short, he's a class act.

I third The Captain, Shaxper, Prince Hal and Codystarbuck, whom I would all have wanted to nominate first. These individuals are all gifted with intelligence, empathy, knowledge, maturity and civility: they are all a pleasure to hang out with and to discuss even matters on which we may not always agree. And because CCF is blessed with many more such individuals, I’ll nominate an extra one, just to make voting more difficult: Confessor , who nominated me (*ahem*) who, on top of his extremely interesting Tintin and Star Wars threads and his vast knowledge of modern music, is one of the best moderators I have seen on any message board. He’s firm but fair, understanding and rational, and a great member of a fine community.
