So what did everyone think? I thought it was interesting to see Usagi not fighting at full strength, to the point where he was actually ragged on by his companion... not sure I liked it, though. Seems a bit extreme, but maybe that's just because I'm used to the usual comic book recovery times.
I loved having one of Gen's shortcuts actually work for a change, that cracked me up... great moment.
For the actual story itself, it was very good...definitely a tugging-at-the-heart-stings sorta story. I always love a good one shot, too.. so rare these days.

I enjoyed this story a lot. I like Kazehime as a character so much that I was disappointed with the ending (avoiding spoilers). I thought it was a nice story twist in that Usagi's impulsiveness usually gets him into trouble. But the hesitation by one of the characters is what leads to their trouble. The world is not so black and white that Usagi (or is) can have one set of rules that always leads to success - that's one of the cool things I got out of this issue.

I really like Kazehime. I actually disagree with Julie Sakai's opinion (as stated in one of Stan's replies to a letter) - Usagi's already got too many love interests. But it would be nice for him to have a mole inside the Komori, like he could have with Chizu in the Neko ninjas.

Man, I'm pretty bumbed out that Kazehime met her end here, it just seems like such a waste of a perfectly good character. Unlike the Necco Ninja who received a lot of good characterization the Komori, despite their cool design as bat ninja, have continually come across as two dimensional thugs so when Usagi actually got meet one and learn her name it looked like they were finally going to get their due...but at the end of the day with Kazehime's death the Komori remain kind of flat as adversaries.
That said, this was a fun little adventure with Usagi doing his wandering Ronin thing, looking for a job that pays and ending up in a scrap. It was nothing earth shattering, but it was fun none the less.
