I had steak that I cooked up myself (with my yummy dipping sauce) and some cottage cheese for lunch. OM NOM.

KFC tonight.
So earlier I went to the grocery store, which sells some of the best sandwiches in town (they're good, but also this town doesn't have sandwich shops), and they DISCONTINUED the Italian sub! I need to get on Yelp now, how am I going to survive?

Chicken breasts that I cooked in Italian dressing and sun-dried tomatoes, tossed salad, and angel hair pasta in a creamy herb sauce.
For dessert later, I will be having a mug of hot chocolate with a shot of butterscotch schnapps in it.

My wife and I went to a new peruvian restaurant that opened up not to far from our home. I had a dish called lomo a lo pobre. It's Steak with 2 fried eggs, fries and rice. Not bad.

Ever since I became diabetic fried chicken has been nothing but instant regret every time I've had it. I need to stop.

It's my favorite wild game. My wife can't eat chicken either since she had gastric bypass surgery back in 2005 or so. It gets stuck going down, as she explains it to me, and ends up vomiting it up every time. I feel for you buddy. Diabetes would suck for me, no more drinking.

Ever since I became diabetic fried chicken has been nothing but instant regret every time I've had it. I need to stop. If you don't mind me asking, type I or type II? My mom and brother are type I, and I've been tested all my life to make sure I do not have it. My mom is a medical miracle, especially since she didn't take good care of herself when she was younger. She's been a type I since she was 13, and she's 67 now. My brother seems to think eating once a day is okay for him, and I think as he ages, that's going to come back to bite him in the ass. Diabetics in my family also seem to think that if they want to partake in desserts or binge on sugary treats, they can just take a crap ton of insulin beforehand, and they'll be okay. But I've seen my mom hit some pretty horrendous insulin reactions before. I got to a point where I could detect them coming on before she ever had them. She spaces out, stops making sense when she speaks, and gets crabby as hell.

On the menu tonight: french bread pizza. I got myself a nice baguette that I'm lightly toasting now and then it will be made into an excellent pizza.

Spicy Shrimp Tacos at Chili's with black beans and rice as sides.
We'd planned to go to Texas Roadhouse right across the street, but there was a 55 minute wait at 5:10, and as much as I like their food, it isn't "wait for damn near an hour" good.
Stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home (both of my daughters wanted ice cream and since they rarely ask for anything special like that, we decided to give in) and had a mini Heath Blizzard for dessert.

She spaces out, stops making sense when she speaks, and gets crabby as hell. I'm type two, but I suspect it's pretty bad. When I quit drugs I very quickly gained 100lbs, I became a basketball. I stayed that way a couple years and got sick and was diagnosed with diabetes. I was told if I lost the weight I would get better. I lost nearly all the weight (I think I hover around 10-15lbs heavier than when I was on drugs) but my insulin dependency has not improved one bit. I'm also on every oral medication that can stack on me. So the doctor still says if I get down to 160 I'll magically not need medication anymore, but that doesn't sound right, when at 178 I needed exactly as much medication as I needed at 280. Of course weight loss itself it a good thing, but I think I killed my pancreas. Also, type 1 diabetes is hereditary in my family, but I was diagnosed at age 28 and after severe weight gain, so I'm diagnosed with type two. When I cut my diet down to 1600 net calories a day I no longer need the insulin, but that's a pretty severe diet that I don't have the willpower to do long term. I can do it for a couple months at a time but then I'll have to get back on the insulin.

Today I went to Wolfgang Puck's pizza place and had some house made sausage pizza. It was pretty good but I still prefer that Chicago style place. Just something different to try. For dinner I'll probably have a sandwich at home.

And, yeah, type I, one of the symptoms is severe weight LOSS. And extreme thirst for sugary liquids. And eating sugared foods like mad, but experiencing the extreme weight loss. Diabetes sucks. But type II is supposed to be easier to control with diet and exercise, that I know. I take after the women on my dad's side of the family, apparently, and diabetes isn't an issue in his family. Though, he was borderline diabetic (type II) a few years ago due to a pretty big weight gain and sedentary life style. That scared him into gear, and now at 73 years old, he jogs 4.5 miles a day and, when weather permits, he bikes over 11 miles day. Damn. You need a hug. <3

Those symptoms sound like diabetic ketoacidosis, which I had. I was in the critical care unit for a week, hooked up to heart machines with a nurse literally at my bedside 24 hours a day. Three nurses in shifts around the clock, literally just sitting there staring at me. I got sick right when swine flu was gong around, and I worked a lot in the farming areas of Mecca and Coachella. If you're going to get an exotic disease, that's the place to get it. So I thought I had swine flu, and thought I'd just tough it out at home. But yeah I lost some weight during that time. I also drank nothing but Hawaiian Punch, with frozen Hawaiian Punch ice cubes while I was sick, it felt like it was making me better but of course it wasn't. Even when I went to the hospital I still thought I had swine flu, but it had been a month or so and I hadn't gotten better so I figured I needed some medicine. I went to the hospital and thought they'd write me a prescription and tell me to sleep it off. Nope, I got admitted. I think I stayed 10 days total in the hospital. A week underground in critical condition and then a couple days above ground in a regular room.

Spicy, spicy Indian food with pepper that would make the uninitiated run to the potty, screaming.
And I washed it all down with a beastly cold Heineken.
Now I want ICE-CREAM...bluebunny chocolate chip....
