Everywhere I go, people say, "Drake", they say, "aren't you the least bit embarrassed by your adolescent-like devotion to a musical genre? Metal can't literally be your religion, can it?" There's only one response:
Every note in this song is metal bliss.

My older brother got this album when it first came out and of course I heard "Freeze Frame" and (especially) "Centerfold" on the radio. But I hadn't given this album (or The J. Geils Band) much thought in decades. Turns out this is a corker of an album. Just a lot of fun from to start to finish, a real party record.

That was one of the first albums (yes, the actual LP) I bought on my own, i.e., wasn't a hand-me-down from my older siblings. Sometime in early 1982, I think, which was about when the money I usually spent exclusively on comics and books started to go toward music as well (and comics eventually got almost entirely jettisoned about two or so years later). Yes, it's a pretty rockin' album, but between the many times I played it over and over, and the extensive airtime the hit singles from it got on the radio, I got *really* sick of it after a while. Then a few years ago, when I was randomly listening to songs I liked on YouTube, a link to the title track appeared on the side bar. I clicked on it just for nostalgia's sake and then remembered that it's a pretty damn good song. Same goes for a number of other tracks, although I'm still sick of 'Centerfold.'

Really not big into the B-52's (my mom is though), but Give Me Back My Man is a pretty damn good tune

I'm trying to work my way through the backlog of 2021 albums that I wanted to listen to but haven't had time before the backlog of 2022 albums gets too unwieldy. Just finished up The Kokomo Kings album "A Drive-By Love Affair." Nice old-school rock & roll album with just a bit of a jump blues feel. Well worth the listen, though probably not a stand-out.
Just about to listen to Ringo Starr's EP "Change The World."

For some reason, this song often moves me to literal tears.

Can't remember now what I was originally looking for at the time, but I came across this on youtube a few weeks ago and it's been stuck in my head ever since. Love Peggy Lee's stage presence here and of course her singing and Goodman's playing:

I am not one to like country music much past the 70’s unless its an established artist that has a history dating back that continues to make music. But I do like this song a lot. He’s a good singer and closing guitar solo is amazing.

Got a Grateful Dead CD coming (free cover CD with MOJO). Not a band I have much experience of. Looking forward to it.
