Interesting - not what I'm used to from comic book versions of REH characters. When I saw that cover my first thought was the anatomy was a little too exaggerated, with the guy's arm bigger than his head, but the interior art doesn't look like that at all. The armour and clothing look vaguely Mediaeval to me, and perhaps a little too elaborate for my image of Howard's Hyperborean World. But I'm intrigued and would love to see more.

Here's more on the French Conan series coming from Glenart in 2018 including more creative teams involved and more preview art. I need to find a way to get a hold of these. Not sure if American shops can order these outside Diamond or whether American copyright rules preclude this. -M

The best line of the whole blasted article is this: It would be a first for Conan in movies or TV to be faithful to the Howard material. -M

Yeah, I agree... but I also feel like everyone says that when they adapt something... it's sorta the 'right' answer when doing a classic property.
It could be pretty awesome though, if it's really a show with modern production values that is the REH version (or the relatively similar Roy Thomas version).

Problem is Amazon is looking for something to be their Game of Thrones, so they will likely a) sex it up, and b) change things to make it have more of that feel. If they wanted the political intrigue of GoT, they should have gone with Kull and adapted Shadow Kingdom over the course of the first season, or By this Axe I Rule (the Kull story that Howard himself transformed into the Conan yarn Pheonix on the Sword). There's a lot more of the political intrigue and war aspect in Kull than Conan, unless you are specifically going into the King Conan years. -M

I would love to see a really good Kull series.
Does anyone know this Colony series they mention?

They could totally do Kull and call it Conan for name recognition... but the fact that REH's Conan has very little in common with Game of Thrones is a bit scary.
I was hoping they meant 'hit fantasy series' more than they wanted a GoT clone.

I was hoping they meant 'hit fantasy series' more than they wanted a GoT clone. If they did the aforementioned Phoenix on the Sword, they'd have all the political intrigue of a GoT type show. Any of the REH stories set while Conan is king of Aquilonia have a fair amount of political intrigue. -M

I’d be more excited if they were reviving the scrapped animated Conan series with Ron Perlman voicing Conan. That sounded amazing As a live-action series on a really tight budget? I don’t know. It could be good, or it could be a slightly more polished version of the goofy Hercules series with Kevin Sorbo.

Using poop on a string as puppets voiced by toddlers would be better than the Kevin Sorbo Kull movie. -M
