Every October, creators big and small participate int he 24 hour comic book challenge, to create an entire comic book, from plot to script to pencils to inks to letters and colors in 24 hours. Usually these are jam issues done by creators who gather at local shops or studios to participate. Details about the event can be found here. Recently I got to see some of the art produced for one of these challenges from this year done here in the Miami Valley when Adam Fields showed me his pages (which won best of in the local challenge) for a story involving the Yeti. I really liked these pages (Adam was trying a new hand coloring style in these-his self-published book does the coloring via computer and he has a flatter who works with him to prep most of the pages). Here are his pages from the event... a process look at an incomplete page... and the finished page... and the award for best in show... I am looking forward to being able to read this issue in total at some point this year, but it is fascinating to watch Adam's stuff evolve with each project (even each issue) he does. I love this kind of behind the curtain view of making comics, but to see it in practice is even more interesting. -M

I'd buy that issue, for sure.
