The thread I started asking about scanners digressed into a discussion of desktop publishing programs available, which is col and interesting, but I thought we might have a thread on those types of discussions for those of us who do indulge in the creative side of comics, prose and illustration.
So I am going to start off asking about alternatives to Microsoft office for writing documents. We just got a new desktop we haven't set up yet and it doesn'thave office, and our versionof office is form '03 and the updates are no longer available, so it's not going to work on the new unit.
So I am looking for alternatives to word processing programs I can use. One that was mentioned was Writer the Internet typewriter but I have no experience or other feedback on it, and was wondering if anyone here had tried it and if so, what did you think?
Also, what other alternatives are out there?
