I picked up Batman '66 Meets The Legion of Super-Heroes #1 and I decided it's one of the best comics of the year just from the cover!
I haven't actually read it yet, and now I'm off to see the new Planet of the Apes movie!
When I've read the Batman/LSH book, ill return with a more-detailed report.

#22.
Written by Mark Waid. Art and Cover by Pete Woods.
This issue highlights Betty. It shows her impact on the lives of Riverdale's people from her parents to Archie to Veronica to Mr Weatherbee. Good news? She doesn't die. Bad news? See the spoiler below. To be continued...
Waid again nails the voices of all the characters especially Betty. Just an awesome issue highlighting the heart & soul of Riverdale. We all could use someone like Betty in our lives. Woods' art is perfect at being serious enough & light hearted at the same time.
9/10.

Written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. Art by Scott Godlewski. Cover by Lee Weeks.
The Kent family rent an RV & go on vacation. They visit historical sites.
Another great issue by Tomasi/Gleason. They nail the family dynamic. They manage to teach some history & a moral lesson that showcases why Clark & Lois are exceptional people. The downside was the art. The art was off. Clark had stick legs. It was not up to the usual standards for art in this title.
7/10.

Written by Chip Zdarsky. Art and Cover by Adam Kubert.
Another fun issue with Iron Heart, Torch & Peter's sister/not sister Teresa Parker. And the Kingpin...
Zdarsky does a "spectacular" job explaining who Teresa is (from a GN Family Business). There is a lot of humor in his writing that feels right for Spidey. Kubert's art is perfect for the script. Light hearted yet detailed.
8/10.

Written by Peter J. Tomasi. Art and Cover by Jorge Jimenez.
Robin & Superboy are out on patrol in Metropolis & the Teen Titans show up. Robin abandons Superboy to go with them. The TT get beaten by a group of villains & Damian is aged to an old man. He appears outside the Kent's apartment asking for Jon's help.
Another fun & beautifully illustrated issue by Tomasi & Jimenez. These are pre teen boys with abilities & fathers that are legends even in the hero community. And Tomasi writes them so well. I have said this before...Jimenez excels at drawing children.
9/10.

Written by Gerry Conway and Ryan Stegman. Art by Juan Frigeri. Cover by Ryan Stegman.
Annie barely appears in this issue. This issue focuses on Peter helping MJ overcome the influence of the Venom symbiote that Liz Allan gave her. Conway & Stegman do a great job showing why MJ is worthy of being a hero in her own right. The art by Frigeri is beautiful. This issue wasn't as "fun" as previous issues. Part of the reason was the lack of Annie in this issue. But it still was a great issue.
Between this title & DC's Superman titles, family themed titles are my favorites right now.
8/10.

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Stjepan Sejic.
With rumors of Arthur's survival King Rath tries to track down The Aquaman. Dolphin helps him fight back against the forces trying to capture him. Meanwhile Mera attempts to break thru the barrier protecting Rath. And others in Atlantis work behind the scenes to bring down Rath.
Abnett continues his stellar run. Sejic's gorgeous art just adds to an outstanding title. Man is the art amazing!
10/10. My Favorite This Week.

Written by Jason Aaron. Art by Valerio Schiti. Cover by Russell Dauterman.
Volstagg continues to unleash his wrath as War Thor. He goes up against the Queen of Cinders. The Enchantress. Ulik King of the Trolls. It appears the Ultimate Thor's hammer is controlling him. Meanwhile Odinson tries to get Jane healed with magic in Asgardia. However she senses the unrest in the Realms & Mjolnir flies to her transforming her into Thor!
I am glad I started to pick up this title. I am going to go back & fill in the issues I missed with Jane as Thor. Aaron does a great job juggling 3 different Thors in this title, all with different motivations. Beautiful art.
8/10.

#25.
Written by Tim Seeley. Art by Minkyu Jung. Cover by Brad Walker and Andrew Hennessy.
BAM! In one issue Seeley wraps up an arc & changes Dick's status quo in Bludhaven. Nightwing uses Clock King's tech to save everyone on the exploding submarine. Blockbuster (Roland Desmond) takes over Tiger Shark's casino & organization. Nightwing confronts Roland. Shawn breaks up with Dick. Dick gets a job as a blackjack dealer at Roland's casino to keep an eye on him.
Seeley continues to show his writing skills on this title. This issue was perfect for capturing Nightwing's personality. Awesome at fighting villains to the detriment of his personal life.
8/10.

Written by Charles Soule. Art by Alec Morgan. Cover by David Lopez.
The Good: Soule continues to set up an intense legal story. Matt pulls Foggy back into his life because he needs his help. Kingpin.
The Bad: no Daredevil in this issue. The art.
Hopefully the pay off will be great next issue. This arc has been uneven in quality.
6/10.

Archie #22: My thoughts... a very well written issue depicting the thoughts of Betty's friends and family as she possibly meets her demise. In the split seconds depicted in the hospital, we see memories from her parents, Veronica, Mr Weatherbee, and Archie showing what an impact she's had on them. Wasn't expecting the conclusion and wondering how this will affect the other titles, especially since she's slated to be part of The Archies this fall. 9/10

Superman 27: my thoughts....a great issue as the Kents take a vacation across America and honor our servicemen and women. I loved the opening...Lois and Jon waiting for Superman to come home. They fall asleep waiting as Superman arrives (he falls asleep too as he flies). This scene really hit home with me as my Dad often worked long hours and I'd try to wait up for him to come home and fall asleep before he arrived. I learned some new things and got a refresher on some of our nation's history. I like how the issue highlighted some of the obstacles our veterans face day to day. It was nice to see Superman embracing the American Way and providing a different kind of story. The art was uneven and I would have really loved to see this story depicted by a more experienced artist. Some of the backgrounds were well done, but the people needed some work. 8/10

TMNT Universe #12 Story by Erik Burnham and Sophie Campbell Art by Sophie Campbell Summary: Karai is back in Japan and looking for a new start. Plot: After an absence of three years I've recently gotten back into IDW's Turtle series and I've really been blown away by the current developments and this story really furthers my excitement. When Splinter defeated the Shredder and took over the Footclan Karai left to go to Japan to find her new place in the world and I've been wondering about what she was up to and I wasn't disappointed. Karai has become a deeply interesting supporting character whose developments have really enriched the story and to see her develop further in a story devoted wholly to her is damn exciting. And in the backup with Koya Sophie Campbell further fleshes out a mutant side kick in a deeply stylized way. There's mysticism and horror and I don't know where it's going but it looks to be a fun ride. Art: Campbell's clean, manga infused art during first story was perfect for the slick ninja action and Japanese setting making it feel really authentic. Greater still than that is the contrast in style to the second story that Campbell both wrote and illustrated; the Koya story was rough, dark and wild which also fit it's story. That she can do both, and yet have neither feel out of line in the over all world of the Ninja Turtles is just amazingly beautiful. Grade:10/10

9/10. This issue had one of the greatest lines that I've read in a long time: It was just a perfect dad response that fits the context of a father in a world of superheroes.
