wellll... to be honest, I was contributing to 'contribute'. the thread doesn't bother me, but... I wanted to suggest a Romantic Covers thread, to see if interest would make that bloom, then the sexy thread could die of natural causes. but i'm too new here to do so, so i didn't. i'm not a prude, but i'll eschew the sexy thread too. but please, let no one be irked by the scary/horrific covers thread! that'd break my heart...  We Had This , a long thread dedicated to Romance Comics |

It breaks my heart to see all the Fbucket pictures ripped away from so many of our threads. They must be going out of business to try to extort 400 dollars from their members. If they made it 10 bucks a month , I might have gone for it.

We Had This , a long thread dedicated to Romance Comics yes, but looking at it again, it was mainly crimebuster's over-all review thread, rather than an open cover-specific thread. sadly crimebuster's thread also suffered from f-bucket's venality. |

why does Shax wish you to no longer contribute to Sexy covers thread? I don't think that shaxper necessarily wanted Icctrombone to stop posting in the Sexy Comic Covers thread. It's just that some among us aren't big fans of that thread and I assume shaxper is one of those. This. And pretty much everything you said after. I wince every time I see that thread get bumped, but I'll defend to the end a member's right to post there because I also don't believe in running a fascist state here. If you are not harming anyone, it's your right to contribute content that is no more offensive than what one could easily see in a PG film. No, I never asked anyone to stop contributing there, and I'd never give Icctrombone a hard time for resuming his contributions there either. I think the thread reflects poorly on this community, but so does espousing love for Todd McFarlane. Are we going to censor that? No. Well, maybe... |

I found Todd McFarlane interesting on Infinity Inc. It was super early work from him and pretty crude. But he did some different and what I thought at the time were interesting things. I haven't ever had any interest in his work since then though. And I suspect I'd find that work less interesting now than I did 30-some years ago.

If the majority of the community can heap what they do on Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefield, then I assume were all good for cheesecake too. So like shaxper with the sexy cover thread, I think the Lifield hate is over the top, but I'll defend any poster's right to express their opinion. It's one of my favorite things about Ms Jezebel. So I would hope the same would go for cheesecake.

No. Well, maybe... most well said. and i apologize for using 'shax' vs. 'shaxper'; i was unsure of which would better when replying to Icctrombone initially. 'don't believe in running a fascist state here' has been proven time and again and is always most appreciated. And nohting i've seen on this board would contradict that. Morevover, a truly demographic-appreciating board, which nobly adheres to a fair 'all members' voices are heard and respected, but the overall opinions of the majority of board members should be respected', in the interests of digital-democracy, is something very difficult to achieve in today's comic-reader social-media tableu, a 'hard road to hoe', yet this board does it admirably and fairly, every day, and has done so for years. I also apologize for accidentally derailing this thread from it's purpose: lambasting f-bucket. the notion of cheesecake vs. exploitation is a worthy political topic, however, so I'll post on that in the politics thread, where sharing ideas and debating can make a pragmatic difference. |
