Sorry, Roq. I decided to replace some covers and just delete others in the Cover threads that I started. Maybe I'll just repost as new instead of trying to figure out what belongs where. I promised Shax that I wouldn't post any more covers on the Sexy covers thread , but I might repost the covers that I got FBucked out of. why does Shax wish you to no longer contribute to Sexy covers thread?

I promised Shax that I wouldn't post any more covers on the Sexy covers thread , but I might repost the covers that I got FBucked out of. why does Shax wish you to no longer contribute to Sexy covers thread? I don't think that shaxper necessarily wanted Icctrombone to stop posting in the Sexy Comic Covers thread. It's just that some among us aren't big fans of that thread and I assume shaxper is one of those. I definitely don't want to speak for anyone else, but as far as I'm concerned, the Sexy Comic Covers thread is a bit of an embarrassment. I mean, it started out well enough, by asking who, if anyone, had ever bought a comic due to its sexy, titilating cover. No problem there -- great subject for a thread! But since then, it's wandered way off topic and turned into a never-ending procession of exploitative T&A covers, with no context to justify them, other than the obvious titilation value. Yes, some of the forum's gay members have posted the odd beefcake cover, but 99% of what gets posted there is "woman as sex object" j**k-off fodder. That doesn't reflect well on our otherwise very thoughtful, considered and (dare I say it) intellectual community. Imagine how you'd feel if you were a female who was thinking of joining our community and you saw that thread? We're not a bunch of immature, basement-dwelling horn-dogs here (most of us are middle-aged married men!), but to anyone outside looking in, that thread might suggest that we are. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no prude. I like scantily clad women as much as the next red-blooded male, but I generally like w**k fodder to be kept to porn sites. I just think that the thread reflects badly on us as a community. Still, that's only my opinion and I'm certainly not speaking for shaxper or anyone else here. I also have no beef with those who like to contribute to the thread on a regular basis. I'm sure plenty of folk here like the thread and that's perfectly fine. I totally respect their right to enjoy a thread that I don't. But that's my tupence worth on the subject.

I didn't mean to imply that Shax or anyone else forced me to stop contributing to the Sexy covers thread. But as Confessor correctly stated, There were a number of members that thought it reflected badly on this forum to just post cover after cover of Penthouse pets and Chippendale dancers clothed like superheroes on the thread , so I Pmed Shax and told him I would post no new covers from that day forward. I like these covers and I can say that I posted classy - non , over the top w**king material. Overly glorified bodies are the bread and butter of Superhero funny books. And we shouldn't be ashamed of it. But again, I repect Shax, Confessor and a few others that didn't like the thread so I ceased adding to what was amounting to be an embarrassment for them. I consider the CCF to be my family, and if anyone is unhappy then we have to make it right.

Comic fans are already stereotyped as immature man-boys and this endless parade of T&A comic covers only re-enforces that perception. I have no problem with porn or exotica but I would seek it elsewhere if need be. But an endless parade of "sexy" comic covers with the fanboys giggling and growing bumps in their pant is pretty embarrassing for this web site. But don't go by my opinion. Let's ask the women that are part of this forum Hello. Hello. Any women here? I wonder why

The Mods are free to delete the entire thread. Maybe we will see if more women join our community as a result. Personally, I think the political thread creates more problems than a T&A cover ever did. The Sexy cover thread has never been locked like that one has been.

I consider the CCF to be my family, and if anyone is unhappy then we have to make it right. I just wanted to pick up on this, Icc, because you're quite right that unrealistically sexualised females (or males) in skin-tight clothing are superhero comics' bread and butter. As such, it's perhaps a bit rich to object to that in a thread on a comics forum. I'm really not someone who particularly objects to the over-sexualisation of females in comic books. It's just the way a thread dedicated to the subject, which is completely devoid of any critical analysis, is not the best reflection of our community. As for you no longer contributing to the thread, that's a noble and courteous thing for you to have decided to do, but you didn't have to. I know you know that, but my point is that as long as a thread stays within the forum rules, it doesn't matter whether some members dislike it or not. Which is why the mods have not locked the thread.

Maybe some of the more nastier members that we have drove them away.

How can one ever compare real life subject matter like politics to sexual fantasy. The political discussion, even when they get heated, deal with issues the effect everyone. The Sexy covers only effect your lower genitalia.

Its true that politics effect everyone but it's not like the arguing taking place there has actually solved anything. All its done is make members dislike each other.

But don't go by my opinion. Let's ask the women that are part of this forum Hello. Hello. Any women here? I wonder why The Mods are free to delete the entire thread. Maybe we will see if more women join our community as a result. The mods would not lock that thread as long it stays within the rules, which, generally speaking, it does. Same goes for the politics thread. Also, I didn't mean to suggest that the thread was the reason why we have basically no regularly contributing female members. For better of worse, comic books are a predominantly male dominated hobby -- and vintage comic books are even more so. So, I think a lack of female members is to be expected to some extent, unfortunately, and I don't believe for a second that closing that thread would magically result in more women joining. But, as I said, it's hardly the best representation of our community for any women who might be thinking of joining.

wellll... to be honest, I was contributing to 'contribute'. the thread doesn't bother me, but... I wanted to suggest a Romantic Covers thread, to see if interest would make that bloom, then the sexy thread could die of natural causes. but i'm too new here to do so, so i didn't. i'm not a prude, but i'll eschew the sexy thread too. but please, let no one be irked by the scary/horrific covers thread! that'd break my heart...

You're not too new to create a thread. Go for it. I do find it weird that someone would rather look at a woman's face being eaten by a zombie rather than her in a bikini.
