Yeah I'm interested in checking that one out too.
I dislike most manga I see (though my two youngest daughters, twins, age 23), are big fans.
What I like besides the aforementioned Lone Wolf & Cub and Usagi Yojimbo includes :
He is Yo Himomura, deadly assassin for the 108 Dragons, the Chinese mafia. But to the criminal underworld who fear him, he is known as Crying Freeman, the killer who sheds tears at the fate of his victims. Young, handsome, sensitive, artistic, Yo has been hypnotically programmed by his Dragon masters to kill on command: he cannot resist his masters' commands to kill; his masters cannot stop his tears of remorse.
Written by the legendary Kazuo Koike, creator of Lone Wolf and Cub, and illustrated by the incomparable Ryoichi Ikegami, Crying Freeman is adult manga at its most challenging: dark, violent, morally complex, erotically charged, and regarded worldwide as one of the classics of adult graphic fiction. Dark Horse Manga is proud to present Crying Freeman, yet another of the jewels in the crown of manga classics, presented in its original right-to-left reading orientation.
From the pen of Kazuo Koike, of Lone Wolf and Cub fame, comes Lady Snowblood.
A story of pure vengeance, Lady Snowblood tells the tale of a daughter born with a singular purpose: to avenge the death of her family at the hands of a gang of thugs, a purpose woven into her soul from the time of her gestation.
Beautifully drafted and full of bloody, sexy action, Lady Snowblood lives up to its title and reputation.
From Kazuo Koike, writer of Lone Wolf and Cub, Crying Freeman, and Samurai Executioner.
The corpses whose last wishes Kurosagi delivers usually died not too long ago…for reasons that are gruesomely obvious. But when the ominous Mr. Nire returns to the scene with a reanimated mummy in tow, what they're gonna do is go back…way back, as the kids kick it Egyptian Old Kingdom school ! Then, travel from the past into the future of death, as the Kurosagi crew unlocks the cold business behind some cryogenically frozen heads !
Dark Horse proudly presents one of the crown jewels of manga − Astro Boy ! Created by the late Osamu Tezuka, a revered animator and cartoonist (who created over 150,000 pages of comics in his career !) considered the Walt Disney of Japan, Astro Boy was the first manga series to be adapted to animation and became a worldwide phenomenon, making Astro Boy the Mickey Mouse of anime − a jet-powered, super-strong, evil-robot-bashing, alien-invasion-smashing Mickey Mouse, that is ! Exciting, whimsical, and touching, Astro Boy hearkens back to the classic era of comics and animation, featuring stories that readers young and old will enjoy.
World War III is over, and nomad soldier Deunan Knute and her cyborg partner Briareos struggle to survive in the abandoned cities and demilitarized zones of the postwar wasteland, the "Badside."
Matters appear on the upswing, however, when they are found and brought to Olympus, an urban utopia and centerpiece for the reconstruction of civilization. Deunan and Bri join the Olympus police, a force that seems hardly necessary in such a paradise. But, like in most pretty pictures, perfection is an illusion, and Olympus's peaceful façade hides a dark secret, a violent struggle between human and cyborg that could once again plunge the world into war…and genocide.
Masamune Shirow is well known and critically acclaimed internationally, and is responsible for numerous classic anime and manga titles, such as Appleseed, Dominion, Ghost in the Shell, Orion, and Black Magic.
Deep into the 21st century, the line between man and machine has been inexorably blurred as humans rely on the enhancement of mechanical implants and robots are upgraded with human tissue.
In this rapidly converging landscape, cyborg super-agent Major Motoko Kusanagi is charged to track down the craftiest and most dangerous terrorists and cyber-criminals, including "ghost hackers," capable of exploiting the human/machine interface by re-programming human minds to become puppets to carry out their criminal ends.
When Major Kusanagi tracks the cyber-trail of one such master hacker, the Puppeteer, her quest leads her into a world beyond information and technology where the very nature of consciousness and the human soul are turned upside-down and inside-out.
