Dark Horse Digital just released a new Usagi Megabundle collecting a pretty big portion of the series. There are a ton of really good comics in there! Thanks to hondobrode for the heads-up about this.

Thanks to hondobrode for the heads-up about this. Wow. If I'm reading that correctly, it's EVERYTHING that's been collected to date, thirty years worth of Usagi stories! I'm generally not a fan of digital comics, but this is an amazing deal...

Damn. All it's missing is the last three trade's worth, and the Albedo/Critters runs, it look like. but that's a great deal period, and may be worth getting for a project I want to start up.

the Albedo/Critters runs, Yes, and the Usagi Color Special (it's pictured in place of vol. 1 #10 though??); I didn't realize those were missing from the bundle until now. It would have been nice to have included Usagi's first appearance, as well as the intros of Lord Noriyuki, Tomoe, and Gen, but none of that is truly necessary to appreciating the series. I wonder why they couldn't include the Fantagraph Special Edition anthology, but they could include the individual Fantagraph issues.

Probably just a distribution deal that was struck before the special Edition. I think all the color specials are in the Saga editions. And cover on #10 is for the summer special, that collected the Albedo stories. I feel like such a nerd. Lol.

It's also missing the Dark Horse Color special. So still missing those color specials.
Of course, it also kind of sucks that the digital Saga Mirage issues are in B&W. Some of those color issues look really nice.

That's a shame. If I'm going to collect these issues again, it would be have the color versions of the Mirage stories or to have the letters pages. Or to have them in the larger artist edition size.

I actually prefer the Mirage stories in black and white. Luth's coloring never quite fit the tone of the stories, for me. Usagi thrives in black and white, and the only time I like him in color is when it's Stan doing watercolors.

The only issue I thought worked better with Luth's colors was Autumn. having read the B&W first, it felt a bit messy, and it popped more with the colors.
I'm also a the type to collect singles of runs I really like, and Usagi is one of those. It's also far smaller than my slow attempt to get spider-Man.

I was a floppy purist until the Saga editions came out. I just found myself pulling them off the shelf to read and enjoy them more often. I've kept the Fantagraph run out of sheer nostalgia and am still buying the new issues because the quality and presentation is stunning, but I've been slowly unloading the rest.

If you're looking for a buyer. I love the saga editions, and I'm trying to find good deals on upgrading them to the hardback copies, and possibly the single trade hardbacks. I'll always be a singles collector though, I like having them, even if the trades are a lot easier to read. A bit is when I have kids, I think the singles would be easier to get them to look through then thick big books. And easier to hold. and Usagi is definetly something I want to share with my kids.
