Written by Tom DeFalco. Art and Cover by Sandy Jarrell. Reggie & Midge wait for Moose to finish football practice. Reggie is confronted by a group of guys from a rival high school. Moose intervenes. He invites Reggie to his home. Reggie discovers Moose is the oldest of five & helps around a lot at home. He also discovers Moose isn't a big dumb jock & has a lot of hidden talents. Despite this Reggie is still a jerk & plants seeds of doubt in Moose that Archie likes Midge (using Moose to get back at Archie). Also Betty helps Reggie the next time he is bullied by the rivals from the other HS. What a great issue. DeFalco adds layers to both Reggie & Moose. This issue shows Reggie's dog Vader starting to question Reggie's motives at setting up Moose to get back at Archie. However Betty still sees Reggie as worthwhile to protect. I especially loved the way Moose was fleshed out this issue. I can't wait for the Moose One Shot in May. This title is tied with Jughead for my favorite title in the new Riverdale. The new Riverdale titles are amazing. My favorite this week! 10/10.

Written by Dan Abnett. Art and Cover by Brett Booth and Norm Rapmund. Bumblebee & the Fearsome Five! The Titans don't believe the Fearsome Five's story that are helping people like Mal & Karen Duncan. Nightwing & Flash break into their HQ Meta Solutions & investigate. Of course the FF are still villains & the stage is set for next issue's confrontation! Another great story with Abnett really nailing the interactions among the team. After the Wally centric first arc this story arc has really settled in on the rest of the team & on the dynamics & friendship of these heroes. I know some don't like Booth's art style but I think it is perfect on this title. One of the best Rebirth titles. 9/10.

Godwatch: Part 2. Written by Greg Rucka. Art and Cover by Bilquis Evely & Scott Hanna. Veronic Cale. The origin of Dr Cyber. How Barbara Minerva becomes the Cheetah. Rucka continues the story of how Diana became an enemy of the 3 women listed in the first sentences. I really miss Nicola Scott but look at the beautiful cover by Bilquis Evely. Rucka's writing on WW is SO GOOD on the even # issues but moves at glacial speed on the odd # issues that it is hurting the Truth & Lies story being told. I really wish DC would have split this title into WW & Sensation. I think I may ask my LCS if I can only get the even # issues or drop WW & wait for the trade collections. In summary even # WW issues AWESOME! Odd # WW issues just OK. Score for this issue 8/10.

Superwoman #8: Lana whines and complains cover to cover in this epilogue to the previous arc that makes no sense whatsoever. Lana is in a coma after the story where in a dream or supernatural event, she encounters friends and family who have died. A couple of interesting points: Lana alludes to Crisis and why Superman and Lois survive these earth shattering events while the supporting cast take lumps. Something must be going on due to Rebirth as Lana indicates she can tell her memories are changing and she's not sure what's real. There is a line about Superman's son where Lana realizes something not revealed to the reader. A couple of interesting panels and sentences are not worth $3 or dredging through the previous 7 issues. Stick to drawing, Jiminez. 0/10 *i keep forgetting to have this book dropped from my pull list. I predict a cancellation will be coming soon for this title.

Man-Thing #1Written by R.L. Stine Art by German Peralta Summary: Man-Thing regains his former intelligence...and goes Hollywood!? Only to have to face the wrath of himself!? Plot: When I first caught wind of this I was pretty excited, I grew up loving R.L. Stine and I had hoped to see his quirky mix of humor and horror but sadly what we got here fell short. There was no mood of horror to speak of, the few attempts at humor were bland and in the end nothing really happened. Art: The art was serviceable but like the plot there was nothing that really grabbed a hold of you and made you savor the images.

Supergirl #7: supergirl attempts to help Lar-On, the Kryptonian wolf man from Supergirl:Rebirth. This is a stand alone story. Nothing special other than showing that Supergirl wants to help. Next issue looks like it might be good based on the cameo character shown on the final page. There is a different artist this issue, but it's still too cartoony for such a classic character. 2/10

Josie and the Pussycats #5: Josie and company play at a state fair in an effort to be noticed by a country mega star--and hopefully be asked to record a song with her. Unfortunately the Pussycats are upstaged by the opening act(a child singer) and Josie cries foul, suspecting there is more to the young girl. There are some hilarious, intelligent lines in this book as usual. Another classic Josie character debuts and Valerie has some spotlight that sheds light on her relationship with Josie. The fallout from Alan's romance with Josie is very briefly mentioned. I always feel like I need to read each issue several times as I feel like I missed some detail--to me, a sign of a good book! Great art and story as usual. 9/10

Action 975: the identity of Clark Kent is revealed in this extra sized Anniversary issue. I wasn't expecting the character in the big reveal. There are two stories in this issue. The first details Superman and Lois searching for their son and learning who Clark Kent is. The second story reveals this character's motivation and plan for Superman's son. Nice to see Ian Churchill art in the second story, penned by Paul Dini. There is also a text page about the character revealed as Clark Kent. 8.5/10 *while there are nods to Superman's years of publication and media presence, I would have liked a little more --like pin ups or extras in this Anniversary issue. Maybe DC is saving that for Action 1000.

Hellboy and the BPRD 1954: Ghost Moon #1 Written by Mike Mignola and Chris Roberson Art by Brian Churilla Colored by Dave Stewart Summary: Hellboy, Archie and Susan head to British China to investigate a missing village and Hellboy fights Betaray Bill!(Only not really)
Plot: For the first time in my life I approached a Hellboy title with mild feeling of trepidation after the serious let down that was the Visitor from last month. Once again we see Mignola paired with an unknown artist which made me wonder what I'd get here but unlike last time I left feeling pretty good. The partnership between Archie, Hellboy and Susan is pretty well developed, the setting new and the threat of the souls made for a fun ride. That said, although its a vast improvement over the visitor it was a little middle of the road as there's no real personal hook for Hellboy giving it a kind of monster of the week feel.
Art: While Brian Churilla's more cartoony look isn't the best on the characters the setting under his pen really shines, China really comes alive and the scene with the dragon parade was amazing.

Titans #9: my thoughts.... what an awesome issue! This is the Titans series I've been waiting for since the Titans decline in the late 80s/90s. Finally a writer who gets these characters and writes believable friendships, dialog, and interactions. I loved seeing the team around the table discussing the Fearsome Five and bouncing ideas off each other. Nightwing and Flash teaming up while the others observe at the ready. The art is growing on me as Booth is getting a handle on the team. A minor quibble is Donna's look with the sword and shield. Of course that could be due to Wonder Woman's current look. Not completely on board with Lilith's look either, but at least it's green, haha! For me, the Titans have not been this awesome since the early 80s. 9.5/10

Reggie and Me #3: my complaint....I was mad when I got to the last page and wanted to keep reading! Vader supplies narration as we see the dynamic between Reggie and Moose shift. Reggie is still Reggie as he crafts a plan to get Archie in trouble, but we see Reggie back off a bit. I loved the scenes with Moose and his life at home. The part with Betty was a surprise as she was introduced as such a holier than thou / judgemental type when it comes to Reggie. I can't wait for the next issue and I really want this to go to a regular monthly title. 10/10

Action Comics #975Written by Dan Jurgens Art by Doug Mahnke Back up story by Paul Dini and Ian Churchill Summary: With John stolen Superman and Lois race to the apartment of the other Clark Kent to get to the bottom of it but end up losing more than they hoped to gain. Plot: When I initially read the solicit for the Superman Reborn story line I was discouraged as I thought it was surely DC's way of bringing back the "real" Nu52 Superman. I loved this whole Super-Dad dynamic and I was sad to see it go away in some contrived reversal so when it was shown in last month's Superman that Clark was acting nefariously I was overjoyed as it seemed to say that this wasn't the return of the "original" Superman but someone else and this issue confirmed it. I will say that DC kind of killed the surprise reveal at the end of Superman when they gave us a list of possible identities; the story itself ruled out Superman and two of the other characters had already been featured so it wouldn't have been very surprising if they returned leaving only a character that we haven't seen used since Morrison's run on Action back in 2011. But even though the twist wasn't as surprising as it could have been the character work done on the person in question was really well done and the interplay between him and John in the back up by Dini was fantastic.
Art: While I love Mahnke's strong, realistic character work in the figures themselves and the back grounds his depiction of the transformation of the surprise villain left me wanting. I really think the reveal lost about as much of it's punch artistically with it's lack of a whimsical look as it did by DC's clumsy hint which is a shame. I almost wish that Mahnke had left open space in his drawings to give another artist with a drastically different style than his own room to pencil the character into the story as that level of contrast would have really played into who the character is.
