Superman #8: Tomasi and Gleason start Superman:Reborn in this issue. As usual, Gleason provides fluid and beautiful art. The other Clark Kent makes his move resulting in all kind of loss for Superman. Very interesting stuff going on here. The first few pages showcase the mysterious hooded figure that has been present in the Superman books since Rebirth. Not sure what all is happening but it's looking interesting and fun. There's a page at the end of the book about the other Clark Kent and some possible characters that could be his true identity. Not bad for a set up issue. 7/10

Death of Hawkman 6: now that I've read the conclusion, this story could have been a one shot special. Mainly the issue is one big fight scene. Don't want to spoil anything, but I'm grasping for the point of this series--especially after reading this issue. 3/10

After my disparaging comments about the first two parts of "I Am Bane," I felt obligated to say that I liked Part Three quite a bit better than the first two parts. What I liked most was the twist (which I won't spoil) that explained the reasons behind one of the plot points I criticized. So I should have been a little more patient and had more faith that the writing couldn't possibly be quite that bad. Which is not to say that "I Am Bane" is all that great. Along with the main battle between Batman and Bane, there's a also a lot of pages juxtaposing the childhoods of Bruce Wayne and Citizen Bane, and ending with a few key moments from each as they entered young manhood. It's so corny. I was rolling my eyes so much. I was pretty down on Batman #18 most of the time while I was reading it. But then I got to the twist in the last few pages and I felt a lot better about the whole thing even though, over all, "I Am Bane" has been pretty dumb most of the time.

Nightwing Must Die. Written by Tim Seeley. Art and Cover by Javi Fernandez. Things are going great for Dick. However Shawn calls him while he is out fighting crime to let him know she may be pregnant. Meanwhile Damian sees Nightwing trending on social meeting as Batman's true heir instead of him. He goes to Bludhaven to confront Grayson about this & follows Dick to Shawn's apt where Dick discovers she has been kidnapped. Damian softens & offers to team up again (as they did when Dick did replace Bruce & teamed with Damian) & help Dick get Shawn back. The teaming of Dick & Damian just bumped up the quality of this book a notch. I like their interactions together. I hope Dick doesn't have to endure more tragedy & gets Shawn back safe. The story & art are near perfect. Seeley captures Dick's inner thoughts. They feel real. And he writes Damian well as an arrogant pre teen. 9/10.

Warhead. Written by Dan Abnett. Art by Scot Eaton and Wayne Faucher. Cover by Brad Walker and Andrew Hennessy. I'm not really sure what exactly happened in this 2 parter. So Warhead is a cyborg created by the Chinese military? This felt like a fill in meant to tread water (pun intended) until the next big story arc. So far I have loved Abnett's writing on this book until this story. It was just bland. Sure he still writes Aquaman well but I was so underwhelmed. Overall this title has been great. 5/10.

Written by Mark Russell. Art and Cover by Steve Pugh. Fred loses his job. Wilma buys him a new bowling ball. Mr Slate joins a new religion. Mr Slate becomes disillusioned. Gives Fred his job back. The animal appliances rescue the old bowling ball. Sometimes I dislike this title because Russell writes too heavy handed with all the subtleness of a sledgehammer. But this title is great when he dials it back some. This issue made me smile with the animals rescuing their fellow "household appliance". I also liked the message underlying Mr Slate's experience. What is worthwhile in this life is your relationships with others not how much material things you own. 8/10.

Quick Reviews: Written by Tom King. Art and Cover by David Finch and Danny Miki. Like Hoosier X I felt the parallels between Bane & Bruce were corny & felt forced. IMO any Bane story is sort of stupid. But anytime Bane appears I just want action. And Finch delivered. 6/10. Superman: Reborn: Part 1. Written by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason. Art and Cover by Patrick Gleason and Mick Gray. I agree with mrjupiter's review. This issue was all setup. Hopefully this arc will tell us who Clark Kent is. Establish the direction of the Superman titles going forward. And give us more clues about Rebirth. Beautiful art. Loved the scenes as a family before stuff starts happening. 7/10.

Finally got around to reading Harbinger: Renegade #3 today, and WOW. No time for a full review, but it was the best issue yet and really tells me this title is going somewhere amazing. 9.5/10

Unstoppable Wasp #3 I want to like this book, but man, is it just terrible. Instead of using the character that Mark Waid created (who, as it happens, is also appearing in Avengers), they've turned her into the Marvel version of Starfire, only smarter. Plot wise, they just fly all over the place, leaving dangling bits all around as Nadia herself flits from one thing to another. I guess that's on purpose, but it doesn't make for a good narrative. I love the 'fun science facts', and the art is nice, but it's just too annoying. Marvel books are dropping like flies from my pull list it seems. Plot: 1/5 Art 4/5
