Published: August 26, 2009 Synopsis: "Badly injured from battle, Usagi seeks refuge in a peasant hovel, where a kind family takes him in. However, they become less charitable when they learn that a local gang is looking high and low for the ronin who killed their leader. The family must decide whether to send him away, or continue hiding him and become a target of the brigands. With little choice and much to lose, they may have to abandon the weakened Usagi to the wrath of the cutthroats." Notes: - Collected in Usagi Yojimbo Volume 26: Traitors of the Earth and The Usagi Yojimbo Saga Book 7
- Although both are self-contained stories, "A Place to Stay" is a continuation of "The Hidden Fortress"

The peasant girl, Yoko, is dirt poor, is smitten with Usagi, and clearly has courage, and yet she expresses no desire to leave the farm or run off with the noble samurai. She wants much more to change her circumstance rather than escape it. That's refreshing.

This was a nice follow up to the Hidden Fortress; it was great to see that Usagi's adventures to have consequences.
