This one is easier than the one with comics.
My first, and most personal one, Nidan. Or 2nd degree black belt.
Also have a chance to meet Duran Duran in March and need to figure out what to say instead of sounding like a crazed Duranie. Which I am. Although I've talked with 3 of the members individually before and one of them asked me for my autograph (the then guitarist, Warren, he played guitar on Ordinary World).

My New Years goal is to find the right balance between comfort and change. I've always been a sort of Bilbo Baggins, content in my hobbit hole of life, but life has changed on me, and I am trying to see that as an opportunity to grow and find newer and better contentment.

My Goals
To get down to 225 from 255 and lose 30 pounds this year. My next water polo activity is in February and the next one in June. Those should help considerably.
Be more selective in Comics Reading and explore new titles.
Try to express myself better here this year and cut down my number of postings. It's easy to do 10 or more a day here. It's can be addicting for a while.

Go for it, Razormaid! What slyle do you practice? Shotokan...I recommended it to several girl friends too, taking them in this week to start beginner's classes.

Shotokan has some really fast front kicks... Very hard to block. To think that some internet ninjas argue that no one can really use a kick in a real fight. Clearly they never got a moutfhul of sole. The foot sole, that is. Not the fish.

One of the most exciting UFC fighters to watch right now is Stephen Thompson, who has a karate background and makes full use of it in his MMA fights, maybe more than anyone else I've seen at that top level.

I can still feel the mawashi geri that downed Rousey last year... Karate is an important part of MMA! Nothing against ju jitsu, but it is often less spectacular than high kicks!

I can still feel the mawashi geri that downed Rousey last year... Karate is an important part of MMA! Nothing against ju jitsu, but it is often less spectacular than high kicks! The interesting thing about front kicks is that while it is usually one of the first kicks you learn in several different styles of striking martial arts, you don't get to see it used too often because it requires the receiving opponent to be standing in a squared up stance exposing their centerline, and that usually implies an untrained opponent (unless you are talking about Muay Thai, which favors a more squared up stance). So when watching sparring or competitive matches between proficient opponents, you don't see front kicks too often, except for the pushing variety, and people sometimes forget how brutal they can be. Then Anderson Silva came along and reminded everybody.

Got a bunch for this year: - shift the 6 pounds I've gained over the last couple of weeks - Finish at least 4 more rounds of AllPro weight routines and get my bench press up to a level where Jez won't laugh at me - Another best ever year for mileage on the bike - aiming at ... hmmm.... 4000 miles? That should be achievable. - Stop reading comics which aren't any good, just because I've read the last 10,000 issues of that (or related) titles - Draw a line under my convoluted tax affairs and get that all resolved I'm sure there was one more... oh yes, I remember: get married
