Hey, gang, wanted to let you know there is going to be a few weeks' delay in my posting the wrap-up and statistics thread for TDCC '16. As those of you who follow me on Facebook already know, I'm experiencing some serious dental issues that make it nearly impossible to type or do much of anything else on the computer (just writing this post is causing me pain). Until I have the problem resolved, I will be, well, not offline but pretty much completely incommunicado. I'll be able to see your posts, messages, etc., but I won't be responding. This is affecting my ability to work on the book as well, so I'll be trying to get my butt into a dentist ASAP (not an easy task when your only dental coverage is Medicaid).
In the meantime, feel free to use this thread to list your alternate choices and near misses for this year's event.
Sorry again for the unanticipated delay and I'll see you on the other side.
Cei-U! I summon the monumental toothache!

So sorry for what you're going through, Kurt. I think I speak for everyone when I tell you to take your time. Don't rush on our account, please. And if you want to hook me up with free copies of your book and every issue of Alter Ego you've appeared in, say nothing. I'll take your silence as an implicit "yes"

Feel better Kurt. I know pain from dental issues has laid me up before and I can't imagine what it's like trying to do something like type through it for you.
No worries, take your time, and post when you can. Your stuff's worth the wait man.
Now some near misses...this rounded out my top 25, some were lumped together and would have had to parse them out into individual pieces
25. Silver Surfer '98 animated series 24. Rocketeer 23. X-Men/X-2 22. Spider-Man/Spider-Men 2 21. Blade/Blade II 20. DC/CW TV verse (Arrow/Flash/Legends of Tomorrow/Supergirl) 19. X-Men 1992 Animated series 18. Marvel Cinemaic Universe 17. Dr. Strange tv movie w/Peter Hooten 16. Wonder Woman 15. Superman: The Animated Series 14. Young Justice 13. Once again, I'm reminded how lucky we are in the UK to have the National Health Service.

These are my picks that were my near misses:
Duckman 300 X-men 2 Adventures of Superman Batman 60’s Tv show Batman TAS Winter Soldier
But I'm okay because they all made someones list.
The following made my 2007 list but didn't make the cut and I didn't see them appear in this years Classic.
Catwoman ( Yeah, I know) FF- Rise of the Silver Surfer Daredevil ( Ben Affleck) Flash 1990's series

I have no words! Ha, I only regret Catwoman. I still enjoy the other 2.

I am shocked, shocked they were not included on any lists.

Not my near-misses, but a few things I have fondness for I didn't see on any other lists: ** Snowpiercer is an adaptation of Le Transperceneige and available on Netflix. It's a pretty solid science fiction flick about a train circling the world which contains the last of humanity. The poor live toward the back and are getting tired of it. ** Smurfs is a TV show I enjoyed a lot as a child. ** Blade (I saw Blade 2, but don't recall Blade)-- This and X-Men seemed to usher in the era of comic adaptations we live in today. ** Blade The Series -- I have a fondness for it.

Snowpiercer didn't even enter my mind as being a comics adaptation though I knew that it was. It wouldn't have made my list as I've seen it only once. But it might well have made my possibles had I remembered it. It's one of the better SF movies of the last decade.

Hope you feel better soon. I feel your frustration over insurance woes with dental needs. The wife has Medicaid too and the level of work she's had over the years (and still needs) has pushed us both to the extreme limits of our patience.
I liked Affleck as Matt/DD. I just didn't like the film that character was used in. Although I heard the Director's Cut is much better.
My biggest near miss is Rocketeer which is why I'm happy to see it make it onto some others' lists. It captured the essence of Stevens' comic so well and it's just a fun film to watch.
