I heard an interesting question today- if you entered a room that had everyone you ever met, who would you go to first? My Dad. I'd love him to meet my wife. He passed away 17 years ago, so it's been a while.

Mayo on french fries (or pommes frites), however, I'll leave that to the Belgians, the French, and the Dutch. I just can't do it. I think many of these things boil down to a combination of acquired taste and of foods being made differently in different countries. I used to be a bit bemused at the notion of combining peanut butter and jelly on a sandwich, but I figured if you've been eating it from early childhood, of course you'll find it delicious. But then I learned that between American peanut butter and Dutch peanut butter, there's a big difference in flavour and texture, with American peanut butter being both sweeter and smoother. Digging deeper, I was more surprised to learn that, outside the Netherlands and Belgium, peanut butter is not a very popular spread in the rest of Europe... so in that sense North America and the Netherlands are Peanut Butter Brothers! :-P

Cei-U! I summon the riotous reunion!

Fixed myself a nice pork chop last night, some mashed potatoes and broccoli. Mmmm-mmmmm. Took my plate back to the kitchen to rinse it off and put things away. I cooked two chops, since they came in the package that way and I figured on having the other today. I walk into the kitchen to find it on the floor, with the two cats munching on it and little pieces stripped off. Little s@#$s!

We've kind of gotten into the habit of buying a pork loin and cutting them up ourselves in nice thick slices. So delicious~

A question for our British members -
My wife and I watched a movie that took place in Yorkshire. In one scene, two teenagers were arrested for smoking a joint but were released when the joint turned out to contain oregano instead of pot.
The question - everybody in the movie pronounced "oregano" as "or-eh-GAH-no". Is that standard UK pronunciation or just Yorkshire? I know they have a distinct dialect. Over here we would say "uh-REG-uh-no". The internet tells me that in Italian it's "oh-REEG-ah-no", so apparently we're both wrong.

Everyone in Britian pronounces it "or-eh-GAH-no".
