Just venting and moaning for a bit... I've come down with a real stinker of a cold and have almost completely lost my voice (not good for a singer!). I had a really important gig with my band The Kynd tonight in London, supporting a group called Apollo Junction, who have been getting some decent press in this country of late. It was a chance for us to play in front of 250-300 people who'd likely never heard us before and to hopefully win over some new fans and sell some LPs, CDs and T-Shirts. In addition, a good friend of mine, who I've not seen since Christmas, was coming up from Worthing on the south coast to watch us, so I was looking forward to having a few beers with him afterwards. Unfortunately, we've had to cancel the gig because I just can't sing at the moment and because today I'm running a temperature, with sweats and shivering. I've been in bed all day. I feel f*cking wretched and completely p*ssed off that I've been forced to cancel such an important gig. It absolutely sucks! I am not a happy camper right now. That really stinks. As a friend, (sort of) co-worker, and avid fan of The Kynd, I'm angry for you on all three levels. The good news is your music isn't going anywhere, and people who need to hear it will continue to make their way to it regardless of these setbacks. I firmly believe that. If anything, this just buys us more time before you make it too big to be able to hang out here with us anymore. Confessor, I heard a rumor that you guys were going to break out the CCF In Dept theme song...

My login in never holds on this site. To even look at a thread I have to log in every time I come here. Not a big problem, since my PC remembers my login ID. But it is curious. This does not happen on my tablet. Does this happen to anyone else?

This does not happen on my tablet. Does this happen to anyone else? Yes, and just for my notebook - which I use at home and is my main device. When I go into the office once about once a week, my pc there does not require me to log in again. No idea why and not really sure how to fix it.

I've just deleted a post (and several subsequent posts quoting it). I want to be very clear that, while difference of opinion and respectful discourse is critical to the health of this community, there are certain topics that are not up for discussion; certain intolerent perspectives that will not be entertained here. One such perspective is that there is a "Homosexuality Crisis". Suggesting that the mere existence of any non-violent, non-hateful group of people constitutes a "crisis" is ignorant, intolerant, hateful and (frankly) disgusting. The Mod Team will be reaching out to the responsible party after discussing further. For now, some posts have been deleted. Sheesh. You go to sleep for a couple hours and miss all the drama. Jk Thanks for keeping the streets clean here.

I'm always logged in on my phone but do it manually on my PC because I've enabled site cookies on the former but not (yet) the latter.

For the longest time I thought that they just threw boxes of tea bags into the harbor, not these logs I've seen this before on the internet and I'm pretty sure it's incorrect. Please allow a descendant of your former Colonial overlords to teach you damn Yankees a thing or two about the Boston Tea Party... Aside from the fact that many contemporary or near-contemporary illustrations of the Boston Tea Party clearly show it being loose leaf tea that was tipped into Boston harbour, the British East India Company, who owned the ships in question, did not import tea in bricks like those in that picture. All the tea they imported from India and China etc was loose leaf and stored in wooden tea chests. In addition, several accounts of the incident mention the protestors not only tipping the tea into the water from the decks of the ships, but also piling up mounds of tea leaves along the dockside. These were then pushed into the harbour using rakes and brooms. You cannot really create mounds of tea with tea bricks. The actual tea that was thrown into the water in Boston was almost exclusively Bohea (pronounced "boo-hee"), which, though barely known today, was by far the most popular tea to drink in Colonial America. It was popular largely because it was pretty cheap compared to other types of tea. There were also smaller quantities of green tea seized and destroyed by the protestors, but it was mostly Bohea that went into the water. I know all of this because I went down a bit of a Boston Tea Party rabbit hole after visiting the site of the incident in 2018 and I read quite a lot about the protest. As part of my research, I sourced some Bohea tea (it's kinda hard to find nowadays, as barely anybody in the West drinks it any more), but it turns out that it's rather lovely. It's a very smooth and refreshing tea, with a distinctive smokey flavour. These days, I always keep a tin of Bohea in my house and drink it with reasonable regularity. Yours sincerely, The British.

Confessor If one doesn't already exist, this sounds like a topic for a The Kynd song. Just saying.

This is all we need to know.......
Okay, so the Pilgrims weren't persecuted for their religion, they were prevented from persecuting others and forcing their ideas on them.....and there were colonies before theirs........and they would have starved if not for Samoset and his people.....and they left out the French & Indian War as the reason behind the new taxes that threw everyone's noses out of joint.......and troops were already stationed in the colony for protection.....and commercial interests of some of the agitators......
They never did get around to doing a song about the first Confederate Government (1781-1789).
Or the Whiskey Rebellion.
Or the Pennsylvania Mutiny
Or.......
Danged if the Preamble song didn't help out with the US Constitution test, in Civics class.

Just looking at my cat, Aja, curled up in a sunbeam, snoozing in peace and contentment.
