Another Easter where it's snowing in Southern Idaho. Which is not at all unusual. Not that Easter is a big deal, but still. Meanwhile, here in Zagreb it's been unseasonably warm. Last two days I've been able to go on walks in the woods wearing a t-shirt. And I've been taking pictures like this:
The downside, of course, is that I'll be spending Easter Monday (a national holiday over here) mowing the grass. Oh, joy, the season has already begun. Anyway, happy Easter everyone. Here's some nice traditionally colored eggs...

So sometimes I struggle with what to share and what to keep to myself. In mid-March tests revealed that my PSA had jumped by 10 points indicating an enlarged prostate, which is often a warning sign of potential prostate cancer. I was told not to jump to conclusions, as with the recent hospitalization around Thanksgiving due to a blockage and living with the hernia, there are a number of possible causes that aren't worst case scenario, but not to ignore the issue either. I had an appointment earlier today for a prostate exam and all signs indicate it is healthy, with no growths or tumors, but we won't be certain until we get an MRI done, which I am waiting to hear from the imaging center for an available appointment, but after today's visit, we are cautiously optimistic. I see the specialist again in a month, after the latest batch of bloodwork has yielded results and I have the MRI done, but the doc felt that is it highly unlikely the enlargement is due to prostate cancer, so we may have dodged the bullet. We're not fully exhaling yet, but it is a chance to at least catch our breath and breathe a little easier.

Wish I could have found a Jim Aparo birthday party cover or even a panel to put you in a celebratory mood, but I came up empty, MWGallaher. At first I thought of Batman 321, but it turns out that it was Garcia-Lopez doing a pretty fair facsimile of the Aparo style. Hope you can don ye now your gay Aparo (> groan<)and have a fun day!

I can’t imagine the waiting around to hear results. As Shaxper said, cautiously relieved for you and yours.

It's supposed to rain the next two days. This might be the year of rain. I worked in two absolute downpours in the last few weeks.

We're not fully exhaling yet, but it is a chance to at least catch our breath and breathe a little easier. -M I went thru some of that. My PSA has been borderline high for years. A few years ago, my doc decided we needed to be sure it wasn't cancer, so we did a minor biopsy. They did it in the office, and 'only' took 12 tissue samples, so I was awake for it. Since it's the prostate, they didn't need to cut, with a natural opening available. (Valium is awesome, by the way.) That test was inconclusive, so he ordered an MRI. Inconclusive. Fancy $100 lab test. Inconclusive. So he wanted to do a surgical biopsy, taking 3X the tissue samples. I put him off for a year, since my PSA was steady, but finally I went for it. And now the doc is satisfied that there is no cancer. Guess he ran out of tests. But yeah, waiting for the results sucks. Fingers crossed for you.

Had a great view of the eclipse from our porch & cloud cover opened up about an hour before it started so was able to see it all. It got considerably darker &the temp dropped 5-10 degrees in the totality, but never quite got full dark, more like deep twilight dark.

Doc decided on ultrasound and x-rays rather than an MRI. -M

Just venting and moaning for a bit... I've come down with a real stinker of a cold and have almost completely lost my voice (not good for a singer!). I had a really important gig with my band The Kynd tonight in London, supporting a group called Apollo Junction, who have been getting some decent press in this country of late. It was a chance for us to play in front of 250-300 people who'd likely never heard us before and to hopefully win over some new fans and sell some LPs, CDs and T-Shirts. In addition, a good friend of mine, who I've not seen since Christmas, was coming up from Worthing on the south coast to watch us, so I was looking forward to having a few beers with him afterwards. Unfortunately, we've had to cancel the gig because I just can't sing at the moment and because today I'm running a temperature, with sweats and shivering. I've been in bed all day. I feel f*cking wretched and completely p*ssed off that I've been forced to cancel such an important gig. It absolutely sucks! I am not a happy camper right now.

I feel for ya, Confessor. Get well, and I hope an opportunity akin to this one comes along sooner rather than later!
