I started reading Dark Knight III: The Master Race and I'm kinda blown away by it. I read #1 and #2 over the last few weeks and I finally got #3 the day before yesterday so now I can read all the issues that have been published so far (Five issues so far. I think there's supposed to be nine total.). I re-read #1 and #2 yesterday.
Is anybody else reading this series? I found an old thread asking if anybody was interested. But otherwise, I'm not seeing much DK3 related activity on this forum.
So nice to see Carrie Kelly again!
Wonder Woman and the Atom have been so great!
And it's nice to see Miller and Azzarello tackling one of the most flagrant dangling plot threads of the Silver and Bronze Ages - the bottle city of Kandor. (I'm a little annoyed that they seem to have ignored Lesla-Lar ... but maybe she'll show up later. After all, I've only read two issues!
Both Miller and Azzarello are very good writers who unfortunately have bad habits of incorporating some really bad ideas that somebody should have talked them out of. I'm hoping that they have a positive effect on each other, with Miller telling Azzarello that his bad ideas are just bad, and vice versa. So far, it seems to be working.
I hope some other CCF members are reading it! If not, you're all missing out!

I'm hearing it's good. The name's a little offputting, though.

I was mildly interested when it was announced, but the art is so bad I'm not sure i can read it... plus it's been pretty slow in coming out. I might grab the trade at some point.

It's not a bad read though I'm sure it'll read much better when it's collected as the long waits between issues kill the momentum but that's pretty standard for Miller these days.

I love the little mini-comics glued into the centers of each issue.
I finally got all the way up to issue #5, and it got really silly really fast! One of the reasons I liked The Dark Knight Strikes Back was just how darned silly it was, and not the least bit apologetic about it!
The Dark Knight III suddenly veered off in the same direction.
But this is the Frank Miller Bativerse. So why wouldn't Bruce Wayne have a large cache of synthetic Kryptonite tucked away in sub-basement under Wayne Manor ... just in case?

I'm liking it so far.
I think it was originally slated for 8 books but a #9 is in the works.

I got #6 today. I haven't had a chance to read it yet. So excited!

I love the little mini-comics glued in at the centerfolds, and this issue's Worlds Finest was no exception. I love Carrie's Batgirl costume. It's like Miller looked at all precious Batgirl and Batwoman costumes and picked the only color scheme that hadn't been used. That's why she looks like a Silver Age Spider-Man villain. That fight between Baal and Batgirl was a WOWZER! Baal says (smugly): MY, MY, HOW TOTALLY HUMAN ... BRINGING A CAR, TO A GOD FIGHT! And then Batgirl hits him in the eye with a Kryptonite pellet flying from her slingshot! Superman's anti-Kryptonite armor is pretty cool. I was thinking about starting with #1 and reading all the previous issues once again. (I think it will be the fifth time I've read the first issue.)

The fight between Baal and Carrie was pretty well staged and the dialogue was good but I think what kept it from being great in my mind was the fact that Baal is still such a blank slate; we don't have a good grasp of who he is so there's a disconnect in terms of the physical threat he obviously presents and actual menace he provides as it's hard to have any type of emotional reaction to a character who might as well have no face or voice. That kind of non-presence can work to create terror or trepidation in the short term but it wears thin with repetition. I still hold out hope that the end will work out but this issue felt like a slump to me.

Read the trade over the weekend, I thought it was pretty great--much better than Dark Knight Strikes Again.
Andy Kubert's and Klaus Jansens' art was phenomenal.

That's what I was waiting for, the trade. If it's out I'm going to pick it up.

I enjoyed the series in singles, but I want to reread it in one sitting now that it's finished.

I came across DK III: The Master Race when I was looking for some issues of The Brave and the Bold that I can’t find.
I read the first two issues the last two nights.
I love this crazy series!

I've been reading this the last few weeks, finally getting around to the copy a friend gave me nearly 3 years ago. It's good. I wasn't sure what to expect, considering my dim memories of the last Dark Knight from 20 years ago are mostly negative. I'll see if they can stick the landing when I finish it in a few days
