While we're on the topic of CBR history, I'd be curious to know the early history of the Classic Comics community, especially now that It's sort of fallen on me to preserve it. And (I'm really embarrassed to ask this), I've never been clear: were Aaron Kashtan, Lone Ranger, and Sir Tim Drake ALL the same person?? I'm almost positive Aaron was Sir Tim's real name. I'm thinking he made a thread saying since I think this was before Meanwhile.

I've also noticed you can no longer post YouTube videos directly into CBR You can still imbed them in the TV Forums but that might be the only place.

I will say that after a few timid days, it does seem that some constructive discussion is coming back to CBR. What's interesting is that people actually seem to make coherent points and arguments when they can no longer resort to "This sucks!" or personal attacks. The Classics and Collections board is beginning to develop some substance beyond the ubitiquous appeciation threads.
I think I'm going to continue posting on both sites. This feels like home, though.

What basically got me banned that Weiland thought he knew better than I when I was being sarcastic or not, and when I told him I found it hurtful of being called a liar after all the years (10?) of participating on the board, I was banned for 5 days. And then that turned into a month some time over the past 24 hours. Maybe he never loved me at all. I honestly thought that Cavemold did take over your name to run it through the mud. I didn't you realize were actually joking.
Personally, I think you got done wrong by them. You were always an insightful poster who was fighting the good fight at CBR. Like most of the people who came here, you were one of the people they should have been fighting to keep around, not chase off.
I'd say the same for SuperE, but for totally different reasons.
Thanks for the kind words. I mean, the new message I get when I go to the boards "Clearly just trying to stir things up. Not interested in participating, interested only in creating conflict. " doesn't even sting much because it is so ridiculous in light of the kinds of posts I made over the past decade there. I mean, I participated in everything from Shaxper's Top 50 Horror Movies to the Food Porn thread, never missed a cover contest and won like 7 of them, considered several posters on and off Rita's my friends. And now he acts like I am troll central? This is a screen cap:

"Clearly just trying to stir things up. Not interested in participating, interested only in creating conflict. " Wow. I think it just shows the disconnect between the people in charge and the users, in that the people in charge don't even know who their users are. That is utter garbage.

Pip all I can take from it is....Jonah has no clue what posters are what on those boards. He doesn't know the constructive fun ones or anything. He saw a group who disagreed on how far things went as "trolls" only and that is how it goes. Its a shame he never got to really interact with posters beyond a few posts here or there over a decade plus. But he never has. I was gonna post in the "No Thank You" thread it was the most interaction he had done in years in a thread I had seen on CBR.

I clearly remember that Sir Tim was running the board when I joined in 2006 and, at one point, it was suddenly LR instead. I don't recall an explanation nor introduction, but it might have happened at a point where I wasn't posting much. So, the early history of this community -- how did it start? Who was there first? What brought them there?

The CBR forums and CBR was called the Kingdom Come message boards at 1st. It was named after that comic book series in 1995. There was many original posters then . I joined in 2002 and heard this story a lot.

Rob Allen?) were there prior to the change-over. I believe I joined in 2006.

I think I joined around 2004 but I do remember a time where they eliminated many of my post counts.

The boards were wiped in 2004. They just wiped the boards but didn't go as far as to what happened in 2014. They just wiped it all and things were back to normal basically after the board wipe.

The new Classics board seems so barren.... It's frankly very depressing.

It had its roots in the old Continuity Board on the first post-KC CBR. Many of its regulars (including yours truly) found a new home on the Classics Board after Continuity went bye-bye (our bunch is far more civil than the Continuity gang tended to be, I should note). Not sure if it was already up and running when I returned from exile in '99 or if I was here from the beginning. The earliest moderator I recall was Jonathan Bogart (aka Goldenager), followed by Aaron Kashtan (Sir Tim Drake), Scott Mahaffey (Lone Ranger) and Yerself. Cei-U! I summon the Readers Digest version!

Exactly the history I was looking for. Thanks! So who else was there from the (semi) beginning that's still around today?
