After much discussion and reflecting on my part, I've decided to give a separate off-topic discussion section a try. I think it may benefit our community more than harm it. I realize this has been a sensitive topic for many and want everyone to know that I weighed all arguments made very carefully, and found myself landing on both sides of the argument at various times. For now, though, I think this makes sense and that it's worth trying. Please approach it with an open mind. Thanks, shax

All threads have now been moved over.
If you feel I've moved a thread in error, just shoot me a pm.

Hmm maybe this will bring Jez back? I too would like to see her back, but I want to make it clear that her departure had no bearing on my decision.

I'm not trying to stir drama ... Just genuine concern. What happened with Miss Jezebel?

As the site grows and participation in active threads increases, I think compartmentalizing the content is a good idea. This is a fine addition to the board.

I really, really, really hate this change. I want the comics and "other" discussions together on the same board, rather than pointlessly segregating them. I will give it a try to be fair but I think it's a HUGE error in judgement.
Cei-U! I summon the vehement thumbs down!

I really, really, really hate this change. I want the comics and "other" discussions together on the same board, I understand. It absolutely isn't pointless. There are pros and cons to both sides, which were debated at length by members of the community here. The primary point that won me over was how quickly new topics were getting bumped off the first page. Beyond that, we were seeing more and more off-topic threads each day, and I was finding it frustrating when I was looking for content-rich classic comics discussion. Three or four off-topic threads in the forum works for me, but I believe we had ten on the first page as of this morning when I decided to give this a try. That's all I ask, and I am still willing to say "I was wrong" and put everything back if this doesn't end up feeling right. When I first started teaching, my principal told me that, in my first year, my only goal was to make sure I did no damage. Eventually, as I got more experienced, I could work on doing an excellent job. When I approach all this from that standpoint, I think this community already offers a lot more than CBR did, and there was little off-topic discussion permitted there. Now we have a whole off-topic section, which is a plus. It may not be how everyone wants the CCF to be, but it's certainly not a step down from CBR. I've done no damage with this decision in that regard.

EDIT: Okay, I see where it was discussed. I never look at the Help Desk forum. Still, I would probably have participated if the thread had a less generic title than "Structure of the Site," which led me to assume it was about fine-tuning the bells and whistles. Of course you're not responsible for my assumptions but let's be a little more "on the nose" next time, okay? That said, I appreciate your continued efforts on behalf. No way is CCF anything but an improvement on CBR, and I'm certainly not going to leave over a cosmetic change. But I will be one happy thunderbolt if this experiment falls flat on its face. Just saying. Cei-U! I summon the dissenting opinion!

I'm a one-stop shopping kind of guy. Now instead of you being frustrated in looking for the content you're interested, I get to be frustrated trying to follow conversations on multiple boards. Sorry Cei-U, but I disagree with you. The old classic board, that you were a stalwart member of, wasn't becoming a free-for-all general discussion board with threads that began to discuss everything else. But here, it began to balloon into that. I don't see the point trying to encourage others to join a classic comics board when the first thing they see on top is something that has nothing to do with classic comics. And as was mentioned...I saw 11 threads at one point that weren't comics related at all. I might be in the minority here, but I liked the old way, and thought the rest of you did as well.

Disagree away, jez, it's all good. I'm used to being the minority opinion. Like I said, the change isn't going to drive me away. Cei-U! Cue the curmudgeon!
