Is there anything that can be done to adjust the behaviour of prev/next page?
At the moment, if you're at the bottom of page NN and click next, it takes you to the bottom of page NN+1. I would contend that this is almost never what you would want, and in fact what you want is to go to the top of page NN+1. On Previous, I think it's a little less clear whether you should jump to the bottom of page NN-1 or the top.
Similarly, if you're on page NNN and click on the link to page NNN-3, say, it drops you in a pseudo-random location on page NNN-3.
What I think is actually happening, in all cases, is that you get dropped in the same relative location on the new page as you were in the old page - so bottom to bottom for next, 27 (eg) messages down the page from NNN to 27 messages down the page of NNN-3

You are going to put me to work full time, aren't you? I'll look into it this week and see what can be done.

When I am at the bottom of a page and click "next" or on a different page number, it takes me to the top of said page. The ability to click "next" or on a different page number at the bottom of a given page is one of the few pieces of custom script I created myself, so it's quite likely there is a bug, but it would help to know what browser you are using, whether or not this always happens, and if there are certain variables involved with when it does or does not do this weird jumping to other parts of a page that are not the top. Is anyone else reading this and experiencing the same issue?

I use Chrome, and I had the same issue for a long time, but it seems to work correctly now.
Congratulations, you fixed it!

Congratulations, you fixed it! Maybe Chrome did I use Chrome too. I do recall having this issue early on with the site, but it's been a long time. I hadn't given it any further thought until now.

I had this problem today when accessing the site with Chrome on a Windows XP laptop.
I fully understand that a fix for XP is not likely.

I use Firefox and I too have always had the same problem Simon is describing -- when I click on the next page of any given thread I might be reading, it takes me to the bottom of the next page rather than the top. It is rather annoying, but not exactly the end of the world. Maybe it's a Firefox thing? I'm using Windows 7 BTW.

I keep getting messages on the XP box telling me that Chrome updates are disabled because XP is no longer supported.

I keep getting messages on the XP box telling me that Chrome updates are disabled because XP is no longer supported. And that's a significant problem, as I've no doubt that affects many here. If Microsoft won't support XP anymore, neither will any software developer. For a minor issue like this one, I'm not concerned, but as ProBoards continues to update their software, we may find the software becoming less and less friendly to xp and Vista users. I hope not; I hope they realize the majority of folks using message boards tend not to be up with the new and trendy. So please keep me updated if you notice any other buggy stuff happening only on your xp machine.

Shax, I use Google Chrome, Window 7, and everything else up to date and one of the most frustrating thing when I go to the next page it's always start at the bottom and I have manually scroll up to the top of the next page and work my way down for the 2nd time and every time I move on the next page this vicious cycle continues until the last page.
I hope that I made myself clear ... Start on Page 2 (Top) work my way down to the bottom of Page 2. Move on to the next page ... Start on Page 3 (Bottom) and scroll up on top of Page 3 and work my way down for the 2nd time and this process repeats itself until I run out of pages. It's that frustrating to me and I've keep my Computer up to date at all time.

Just an FYI - I use Firefox and have noticed the same thing - read down a page, click to go to the next page, then have it start at the bottom of the next page so I have to scroll up to get to the top. Not the worse thing in the world, but it is a 'lil annoying
