Naturally, and if you go back you will see hints of it as far back as in Cap's original appearance in the simon and Kirby comic. (That's the standard company line nowadays with grotesque retcons, right?)
Steve Rogers? Who's Steve Rogers? Captain America is Grant Ward!

It's clear as day on the cover of Captain America #1 that he was pulling that punch on Hitler. He had to make it look just convincing enough without hurting his true master.

I'm expecting this to be just as permanent as the time he gave up being Cap to become Nomad, gave up being Cap to become The Captain and was replaced by John Walker, became a werewolf, started wearing power armor, quit being Cap again, started wearing an eagle on his mask and grew boobs, whatever the Chuck Austen run was supposed to be, and when he died and was replaced by Bucky.

Well let's see, Marvel's goal was to create buzz on the book, since the revelation was already being talked about in 2 other threads and now has it's own thread, mission accomplished. Everywhere on the interwebs is buzzing about this and people are screaming for Nick Spencer's head, but everyone is talking about this so Marvel is back in the newscycle...There's no such thing as bad publicity in the corporate mindset.

Oh come on now... at this point, we should be not be surprised when Marvel or DC pulls some kind of outrageous, continuity-breaking stunt to garner attention. It's become their go-to tactic. What interests me more is what manner of storytelling contortions the author will have to pull off in order to 1) sell the stunt, and 2) somehow magically reset everything to the status quo afterwards.

Taken from an article by the Daily Wire I'm guessing that Ben Shapiro is new to how comics work? I'm sure he thinks that Superman is still dead, Batman's back is still broken and that Dr. Octopus is still Spider-man.
