At least part of the delay is because the Saga editions aren't supposed to be coming out at the same time as the tpbs they collect. Dark Horse wants to give each an opportunity to sell in their own right. Still, I expected to see Saga volume 8 a long time ago and was starting to worry that Dark Horse was abandoning the format.

We finally have confirmation that there will be a Saga volume 9. Stan posted this to Facebook:

"Covid really messed up publishing schedules. Saga 9, which was supposed to be released this summer, will have to be rescheduled. The other Saga books will be reprinted beginning in 2021, and I don't know if Saga 9 will be printed first or after 8."

Whether the Saga editions will continue beyond that and incorporate the IDW material remains unanswered.

I try not to buy things I already own, but I would certainly get the Saga version of the IDW trades.

So now that the new Space Usagi series has wrapped up, this also begs the question: Even if the Saga editions resume, will we ever see a Saga Legends volume 2, including the new Space Usagi content?

Not that I expect either of these questions to be answered. It's just been a fundamental struggle. I sold my my entire floppy collections when the Saga editions came out. In the years since, I've tried to patiently trade wait while reading copies from my library instead of purchasing floppies again, but it's really hurt my enthusiasm for reading the new stuff. Now that Usagi is back at Dark Horse, I keep thinking we'll see some sort of announcement about new Saga volumes, but alas...

With Usagi volume 39 hitting the shelves this September, it seems fair to ask this question yet again: will we ever see a Saga vol. 10? I'd imagine this requires Stan and Dark Horse both being interested in keeping the line going, as well as Stan and DH having the rights to print the IDW material.
