For those of us with young children, have you immersed them in Usagi yet? Have they taken to it? I've been trying since the very beginning. When we painted the girls' playroom shortly after our oldest was born, I included Usagi and Jotaro prominently. Ellie then met Stan and Motor City Comicon when she was three and got a wonderful sketch from him. But it's only more recently that she's actually taken an interest in the stories. She read "Samurai" with me and loved it so much that I gave her her own copy, but she is flighty (as seven year olds are) so she hasn't shown an interest in reading more yet. Our youngest is four and definitely too young for the stories, but she discovered some of my old action figures today and, through them, I was able to explain to her who Usagi and Gen were. She had a lot of fun playing out their story! Here are both of my girls boasting the Chibi Usagi shirts that dhfujii was kind enough to send us a short while back: So is anyone else immersing their kids in Usagi goodness?

My 15 year old definitely likes Usagi, and will read it when she has time (which isn't often.. too many Novels and Anime ahead on the list). The 11 Year old isn't much of a reader, despite many, many attempts. She'll read a YA novel here and there, but not with the the great love of reading the rest of the family has... I've tried a wide variety of stuff (Archie, Superman Adventures, Ms. Marvel, My Little Pony, Ducks, etc) to no avail. The 8 year old so far has no interest in comics whatsoever (just the cartoons)... maybe someday

When I start a family of my own in the coming years I hope I have even half as much fun as you have with your girls Shax.

I have a niece and I plan on giving her comics starting at around age 4. I think I got my first one at age 4 or maybe 5. She will tear them up and color all over them at first, but I hope she eventually comes to love flipping through them and looking at the illustration even before she can read (Like I did with miniature Peanuts collections), and if that's so I'll start picking out the best kid friendly stuff available, Usagi being at the top of the list.

I understand there are plans for a forthcoming Usagi coloring book. This sounds like something I'm going to have to buy in duplicate for both of my daughters!

My 7-year-old daughter will be going as a ninja this Halloween primarily because of Chizu. I don't actually let her read Usagi yet; I think it's a little intense for her temperament (we can't watch Halloween Wars on Food Network because confectionery zombies scare her). But whenever I'm reading it, she contrives to sit next to me and surreptitiously read over my shoulder, and soon she's asking "Who's that?" and "What're they doing?", so she knows many of the characters, and I definitely stress the capable women in the stories. It won't be long before I grant her unfettered access to my Usagi books and no doubt she'll jump at it. She loves to read, especially comics.
I also have a 4-year-old daughter who knows Usagi on sight but obviously isn't reading yet.
I hadn't thought about merchandise, though. I'll have to investigate that.
