This is another of my favorites, the general an awesome character and getting to see him develop here makes the ending where we see him choose his peasant life over returning to war all the more satisfying.

Seeing the General almost give in to his old ways of war, glory and power but then understanding that he is at home with all he needs and loves was wondrous. Too often we take for granted what we have never taking time to understand how blessed we are as we search for past or future glories. Having the strength to put aside the path of glory and accepting the joy of what you have got takes more courage sometimes.

I've enjoyed reading your thoughts on all these Usagi stories, brutalis.

Thanks lobsterjohnson, I have the Usagi Yojimbo Saga books 1-6 (and Legends, need Saga 7) along with lots of the monthlies that I give away once I update to the collections. I am one of those who will buy the newest issues in support of Stan continuing!!! I am slowly reading my way through them so I take some quick notes after each story and when I finish up 4-5 stories then I post about them. With so much to read it is the only way to stay current and remark on what I have recently read. Usagi is one of those pure joy readings that you can go back to and read time and again finding new delights. Stan is that great of a writer and artist unifying the 2 so deliciously...
