Justice League of America Chapter 13

Gorilla God, Blackfire, Raven, Cyborg, Silver Swan, and Karl Kyle sped through the ocean in a sleek high speed boat. Blackfire embraced the sun's rays as the boat cut through the waves. Karl noticed Raven had drawn her cloak over her head and didn't seem to be enjoying the daylight. Gorilla God was silent as he steered the boat.
"Up ahead, that island." Karl said to the impossibly intelligent gorilla.
"I don't need you to tell me where to go." Gorilla God huffed.
"Sorry, chief." Karl smirked stepping back. He noticed Blackfire looking him up and down.
"I don't understand why Miss Lane has forced you upon us." the green eyed alien said, scorn in her voice.
"Leave him alone, Komand'r. He busted me and the Swan out of that prison. He's ok." Cyborg replied.
Silver Swan sat motionless, gazing at the waves.
In the JLA satellite, Batwoman was on monitor duty. An alarm went off.
"Those coordinates, the ones that woman looked up..." Batwoman said recalling how the satellite had been compromised by the woman called Raven. Batwoman sent a priority alert.
"Flash here, what's up?" the scarlet speedster replied.
"Trouble. Looks like the Society is up to something. We've been monitoring the coordinates that woman searched for and an alert just pinged."
"Shoot me the coordinates, I'm on my way." Flash said.
"Be careful, Flash...wait for back up."
"He's got it." came Aquaman's voice. "I can be there in a few minutes."
"You two watch your backs, I'll see if I can summon some of the others." Batwoman said.
The Flash ran across the ocean towards the island. He could already see the Society walking along the beach.
"Oh boy, Gorilla God is there....last time I tangled with him it didn't go well. Better hang back a minute and see what's going on." He sped along to the island and hid behind some tropical plants, watching.
"Here. Start digging." Raven said weakly.
"You still aren't over losing that soul are you?" Blackfire asked.
"No....I wasn't finished feeding. I will need to feed again soon." she muttered, glancing at Karl.
"Whoa, don't get any ideas." the handsome man said, backing away.
"All of you shut up!" Gorilla God growled. "Blackfire, blast these rocks away."
The alien pointed her fists and black energy bolts fired. The boulders were reduced to pebbles. Karl approached with a shovel.
"Get back. I can procure our treasure more easily." Cyborg said. He pointed his fist and a cybernetic device emerged, blasting sand away.
"There it is, just as Brainiac said." Silver Swan smiled.
Flash knew he couldn't wait. "Sorry to disrupt your treasure hunt!" he laughed, speeding towards the group.
"Flash!" Gorilla God said, swinghing his fists as the Flash whizzed by. Flash was trying to see what the group was after.
Blackfire and Cyborg fired away as the Flash zig-zagged, their blasts missing him.
"Bah, take him out, Swan!" Raven hissed.
"Put your protective earbuds in." Silver Swan smiled as she released her song.
The Flash doubled over as her cry made his skull rattle. He doubled over as his entire body convulsed.
Suddenly Aquaman burst through the ocean, propelled full force at Silver Swan. Despite her song, he landed a punch, knocking her out.
"Thanks for the assist, buddy!" Flash said, regaining his composure.
"No problem!" Aquaman said. "Now to ruin this group of scavengers' beach vacation.
The Society engaged Aquaman and Flash in battle. Despite their might, the two heroes were outnumbered. As they fought, Raven slinked over the 'treasure' the group was looking for. She tried to retrieve the container.
"I cannot lift it...it's too heavy." she complained.
Gorilla God punched Aquaman, sending him sailing back into the ocean.
"Out of my way, woman." the gorilla demanded, shoving Raven out of the way and lifting the container.
Aquaman rejoined the fight as he and Flash battled the combined might of the society.
Karl Kyle watched behind a grove of palm trees. He noticed a red and blue blur coming towards the melee.
WHAM!!! Superman landed so hard, the island shook.
"Ha, you're in for it now!" Aquaman said, dodging a blast from Cyborg. He landed a punch knocking Cyborg down.
"Oh are we now?" Blackfire laughed. I have a treat for you, Kryptonian.
Gorilla God opened the container. Superman staggered back.
"Kryptonite..." he gasped.
"That's right! Don't you want a piece as a souvenir of your trip to the beach?" Silver Swan laughed.
"Let's go! We got what we came for." Raven said, scurrying to the group's boat. After Fate and Xanadu had taken back White Canary's soul, she was too weak to teleport the group away.
"Finish those two." Gorilla God motioned at Silver Swan. Suprman had already dropped to his knees from the Kryptonite.
Silver Swan looked at Flash and Aquaman. Before Flash could react, she unleashed her song. Both heroes grabbed their heads, and dropped to the ground. Seconds later they were unconscious.
The Society got on their boat and sped away.

"Flash, Aquaman...can you hear me?" Superman asked his teammates.
"I hear you...." Aquaman said. "Your voice...it's echoing like crazy." Aquaman's ears were ringing from Silver Swan's attack.
"Wish my ears would pop." Flash said.
"You ok?" Aquaman asked Superman.
"Yeah, the Kryptonite did a number on me. Since I'm half human it doesn't quite slow me down like my dad, but it still packs a wallop."
"Who stashed this kryptonite here anyway?" Aquaman asked.
"No idea. I'll have to get in touch with dad."
"Whatever they are up to, we'll face it together." Flash said.
"Jon, this isn't good. Kryptonite is something very specific to you....to your dad. We'll need to regroup, rethink our strategy. This Society is lethal, powerful." Aquaman said.
Superman looked out over the ocean. The waters were calm now as he wondered what was in store for him and his friends.

"The Society was successful." Lois Lane smiled at Brainiac.
"I knew they would be." the green skinned alien replied. The mobile lab I installed on their boat will serve them well as our plan comes full-circle."
"Yes it will." the mental voice of the Ultra Humanite echoed in Brainiac's mind. "Soon, I will have my revenge on Superman and his entire family."
