A place to showcase art that deserves to be shared! As a long time collector of Usagi, I've got quite a few pieces blanketing my walls at home. Here they are. Print from The Dragon Bellows Conspiracy. One of my favorite Usagi multi-parters. A few of my favorite Usagi characters, all on one print. Winter is my favorite season, and I always love Usagi best in those quiet, contemplative moments of zen. Sketch Stan did for my wife and I in 2007 Stan's consent for me to use Usagi in my classroom to teach narrative structure to 7th graders back in the day. The centerpiece of my office. I think an LCS had to order 20(?) copies of Dark Horse issue #100 in order to get this poster. My LCS only had two people pulling Usagi at the time, so I ordered the remaining copies and asked him to give them out for free to anyone he thought might appreciate Usagi. I believe he picked up several more pulls after that. Definitely worth it to get the poster and attract more people to Usagi. Piece I commissioned from Stan, which ended up being the cover to Sketchbook #3. One of these days, when I have the cash, I am totally commissioning a Space Usagi piece. In the meantime, this is only the second most cherished piece in my collection. My single most cherished Usagi piece isn't technically mine. Stan made it for my daughter Ellie when she was two and met him for the first time. Pretty much the most adorable thing ever, and such a sweet thing for him to have done out of the blue for her! It has the prominent spot on our second floor landing so that we pass and see it at the start and end of every day. So that's it for me. Anyone else here have any cool Sakai art or prints to share?

I commissioned the following at a convention some years back. I hope to get a follow-up the next time I see him at a con. (Hawaii now has three comic conventions...) It's actually the only print of any kind I currently have decorating my house. Even though I own a gazillion comic book posters and prints of various kinds, plus many superhero statues in boxes. I've just yet to unpack most. It sits in the den above the whisky, by a Bambi snowglobe and Sandman bookends. Really the only decorated part of my house, except in the sense that my bookshelves full of comics are a decoration.

I unpacked this sketch for you too:

I do have one other Usagi print still to be unpacked and in need of framing.

Hopefully these images show up correctly. Sorry about them being sideways. Here's my first Usagi piece of art: (sorry about the old picture; this was back before I had an art portfolio to keep it in, so it was hung on the wall): I was not the original commissioner of this piece, but it is very cool. Usagi sure looks mad! The next piece, which is a detailed pencil sketch: This is one of my favorite pieces of art I have. I really love the rougher sketchy style used on this piece, and the samurai armor looks really cool. The last piece I have is a headsketch in my copy of UY Saga vol 2 (the only hardcover I have...for now): I'll have more to add soon, as I have to take pictures of a few more things and I have something cool arriving in the mail soon.

A couple convention sketches Stan Sakai drew for me at the 1994 Motor City Comic Con, the first time I ever met Stan, and only the second comic convention I had ever attended.... The photo was taken at the 1999 San Diego Comic Con by the brother of my employer (at the time). Since he lived in San Diego and had a couple kids, I offered to pay their way if they could get me some swag from Stan and Sergio.... I bought this page from Stan at the 2007 Motor City Comic Con This is the first piece of original art I ever bought, it was listed on ebay with a relatively low buy-it-now price..... A piece which was picked up for me at the Emerald City Comic Con back in 2009.... From the 2010 Motor City Comic Con..... Picked up for me at the 2011 SDCC.... From the Gem City Comic Con in 2013.... This was from the Heroes Initiative Live Auction at the 2013 Gem City Comic Con.... Ebay purchase in 2013.... Found on ebay in 2014 with a $29.99 Buy-it-Now price tag!!! Picked up for me at SDCC 2014.....

Much as I never understood what Usagi saw in this character, I have always loved this page. Stan's work can be so gorgeously cinematic. You have a very impressive collection, my friend!

Wow, that's a great collection. I really like the style of the Gen piece. And the two story pages are awesome, of course.

Wow, everyone has such wonderful pieces! Shaxper, I really like the one for your daughter. Here are some of mine. Many of my hardcovers have sketches in them, but I'll start out with these... My first piece not in a book was a quick sketch done at Long Beach in 2011.... (I call this "Winter") I had no idea what to ask for, so Stan took the liberty to come up with this nice winter theme, something I actually liked since I had been thinking " one day I'd like to have a commission of 'seasons'" - Well this is a perfect start - Thank you Stan! I framed the first sketch and had another done (Spring). My final two commissioned quick sketches which fellow UY Dojo member picked up for me from SDCC 2015... Summer (left), Autumn (right) I am also the proud owner of this wonderful watercolor Usagi Yojimbo original thanks to a trade with Stan.... thank you again Stan!!And finally, I bought a couple of drawings from Stan at the Long Beach Comic Expo on February 28, 2015...

Purchased from Stan at the 2014 MSU Comics Forum.... I adore this one. It always makes me smile instead of frown when I complete an Usagi Saga volume. So cool that you own this! I really need to get on the Dojo Christmas Card list. So awesome that you do that every year. That artwork is utterly adorable.
