I made a CD of sort of anti-Christmas music once to give away, mostly Dr. Demento type things and plain weirdness. Lyrics like "here comes fatty with his bag full of crap" and "I'm a Christmas tree, people throw stuff on me". If you can't join them... laugh? It helps to have guitar instro versions of things and to like Bing Crosby at least.

The weather has warmed up again. Used to be I'd be very upset when the snow cover melted before Christmas, but now I'm reconciled with it. In fact, I could very well do without the upcoming four months of snow!!!
Not that I'm happy about climate change, but in some aspects it can make life more comfortable.
There. I said it!

Cheaper gas (relatively) is a large part; but, there is also the "power" factor. As stated, in the 70s, it was the age of the "land yacht," with massive sedans that were harder to parallel park than to moor an aircraft carrier, without tugs. In both cases, the vehicles give a feeling of power and status to the driver.
Personally, I stick with smaller cars that get good gas mileage and have reliable engines. My dad drove a Volkswagen Beetle and a Squareback, while others were driving Lincolns and Monte Carlos. Hell, I'm still driving stick, after nearly 40 years of driving.

When I was young, the only people that had big cars were, well, farmers, those who lived in rural areas, those who required off-road/4-wheel drive capabilities, etc. It was very rare to see a Range Rover or Land Rover van. Nowadays, even urban dwellers have SUVs, Jeeps, Range Rovers, etc. Sometimes two big cars in one family. No judgement, but it seems that decades ago, practicality was the key. Now, it seems rare to see a small/smaller car. We’re all addicted to the big ones. Please understand, there’s some humour in my post, don’t imagine me shouting angrily from the rooftops. But what happened to society’s drivers?
As someone who drives one of these:
(Though in slightly - though not much - better condition) there are some of us still driving small, practical vehicles. There's nothing superfluous in this beasty at all. It's a van with seats in the back. I fell in love with this car when I realised it had wind-down handles for the windows. I do slightly miss the cruise control I had on my last car - a Citroen Picasso - but as that one cost 10 grand and this one cost three hundred I'm more than happy to do some actual driving and not just steering.

Watching Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas and the 1st cartoon featuring Donald and the Duck clan has a truly disturbing scene. If you take into consideration the world of Disney 'toons anthropomorphic funny animals then having the Duck family sit down to Christmas dinner devouring a Turkey makes for the stuff of nightmares. Disney helps promote cannibalism? WAAAAAAUUUGGGHHHH indeed.

Duck, turkey, chicken, Cornish Game Hen, pheasant and even pigeon all the same as far as it goes to me. Got feathers and wings? Then same "family" in regards to eating. More similar than different. There I said it...

Many modern scholars believe that the Duck tales were intended to be read as symbolic or allegorical. It isn't always wise however to ask Grandma Duck where the eggs for breakfast came from.

I'd be more worried about where the chestnuts came out.

If movies aren't remastered it makes little sense transfering grainy old film to blu-ray because there's no HD.
Regular Shogun Assassin on blu-ray sucks.
Remastered....not bad.
There, I said it with Lone Wolf.

Put me down for Halloween. Costumes, candy, campy horror stuff, playing monsters, spooky music. I mean, I'm an adult. I guess I can dress up like a comic book villain, listen to Marilyn Manson, eat candy and watch zombie movies any time I want.

On the whole I would agree but as a collector of the amazingly cheapjack UK 23rd Century label I'm glad they're not. Some of the transfers on these DVDs are incredibly bad which kind of adds to the fun. One movie I have on the label actually stops at one point as the VHS tape being copied jammed in the machine and the screen goes blue for a few seconds before starting again. On another (and I really can't figure out how this happened) the movie starts with a slight teaser then a freeze-frame over which the titles were supposed to be superimposed... only somehow they managed to loose the titles. For two minutes the freeze frame fills the screen as second rate generic rock music plays before the sweaty post-apocalyptic Filipino mess of a movie gets going proper. On yet another the aspect ratio changes from sequence to sequence as if the edit had been compiled from two different sources. Vertical roll is not uncommon. I love them.

Uggghhhh....NNNNNNoooooooooooooo.......................... I used to be tortured with that and Manheim Steamroller, at B&N. Thank heaven for the Kinks... I'd give anything to hear that kind of thing in B&N again. Now it's all annoying pop/rap music. Can't even concentrate to see if I might like a book or not.

Saw a very ignorant customer shouting at a supermarket attendant who politely asked him to put his mask on...he didn't want to comply and felt the need to raise his voice so everyone in the next 2 aisles could hear.
These kind of swine really need to be put down. I saw the attendant call for security and hope the buffoon gets banned.
There, I said it.
