I drew this bad ass skull for my students today. My skull is at the other end of my body from my ass.

So here's a truncated step by step look at how I make my linocuts. STEP 1: Draw and carve the blocks (From L to R: Yellow, red, blue black) STEP 2: Print in order from light colors to dark. Each color is mixed with a base that makes them transparent. That way, I get my full range of colors from only four blocks. (The same way comics are printed!) STEP 3: ?STEP 4: PROFIT.I've always been amazed by woodcuts and have wondered how they'd been done. I assume the process is similar?

I've always been amazed by woodcuts and have wondered how they'd been done. I assume the process is similar? The process is for linocut is exactly the same as woodcut. The only difference is that it uses blocks made from a special printer's linoleum instead of wood. I actually prefer using wood blocks, but the linoleum is easier to cut down to smaller sizes since you only need a razor knife instead of a table saw.

Here's a video tutorial of the whole process. That's not me in the video (obviously), but it's one of the people who taught me the process.

Sorry about the awful framing, my terrible phone photography, but this is my latest. At XMas my son asked for a picture, and then dropped the hammer on me...I want a cowboy in a gunfight with a Unicorn...so here we are.

I haven't posted anything in here in a while, so here's a WIP etching I have on the drawing board right now.

I seem to have committed myself into publishing a collection of my comics before a local con in the autumn. Here's my latest which may or may not make the cut:

Hah! I just discovered a new technique.
I hate inking my strips. Of all the stages it is the one that brings most disappointment. I like writing them, and the pencilling is just the best bit - but inking to me is often a joyless chore. I've had a 7 panel page of spacebabe wrestling tentacles sat on my drawing board for a week waiting for me to have the courage to ruin my pencils.
Today I had an inspiration.
I inked the girl's tits.
Then I had to do the rest of that panel so it didn't look like I was even more of a perv than my wife thinks I am already.
