One of the most difficult cuts I made was Jiro Kuwata. I do still have a Japanese-American on my list at the #12 spot. Some of you will have no trouble guessing who

Man, I'm seriously having a hard time narrowing down my list. How do you begin to rank people of this talent? I just think of the artist in my initial list that I'd get anything from, then go over and over the list to eliminate, check if I indeed didn't let one story slip in favor of something else when given the opportunity to get it, especially when I notice that some of the work is redundant and I didn't feel the need to get every last piece of the artist's body of work.

I place them in order of how much emotional "umph" I experience when I read their work. I make no effort to determine who is objectively better or more talented; I's just goes for the feels.

Because Adrian Tomine is corean I believe Oh and only one of my list has been named by you, MRP and the others in suggestions...

It's strange, but my list is getting longer. I am looking through the net and rediscovering some nice work from some forgotten creators. One of them might break the internet if I use him.

I've been adding to my list (up to 29), but except for a couple of massive oversights in my first draft, none of my top people getting dislodged. They tend to be people I'll actually gladly spend money on. Again, I deliberately stayed away from newspaper cartoonists. Of the current top 12: - All are American
- Eight are still active; the other four are deceased
- The oldest living person on the list--and third-oldest overall--is the only one to work for one of the Big Two in the past 10 (maybe 20) years
My breakdown... 4 European 8 North American 9 Living 3 Deceased All geniuses...

That's just given me an idea of someone to add to my list. It's someone I might not have thought of otherwise, so thanks.

I do have a nitpicky question for Kurt-if the cartoonist did all the heavy lifting and the script was in a language other than English, but someone else did the English translation of the script-are they still eligible? Along those lines-if the work was produced pre-2005 but the English translation didn't appear until after 2005, are they still eligible? -M Yes and yes. Cei-U! I summon the easy ones!

In other words, we'll both be including Hugo Pratt? Actually, you're probably thinking Moebius.
