I'm still at 13, and the order is evolving, so I am not sure which one will be left off yet in the final tally.

I have a lackluster list. I almost feel like sitting this year out. Your favorites are your favorites dude, doesn't matter how they stack up to any one else's favorites. You like what you like. You love John Buscema and despise Archie comics, I may disagree and debate that because I don't share the same opinions (I like Buscema just not as much as you do or his later work ), but I love that you have your own views and know what you like. Getting to see what others love about comics is part of the joy of the 12 Days. Sometimes you are introduced to things you never saw before and are blown away, sometimes it's nice to see your own tastes mirrored in others, and sometimes you scratch your head at other's tastes, but in the end, we're all comics fans who love what we love and share it here for others to see. And the more people that participate, no matter what their list is comprised of, the better the whole thing is. So I hope you don't sit out. -M Well said, MRP. Doesn't matter who you have on your list, its YOUR list. We're not here to judge on who you like or don't care for. I'm sure you'll judge mine list by going "REALLY? That person?" or "Wow, I never even thought of him". That's what makes these lists so much fun. Sometimes it's a list to spotlight people that we might've forgotten about their body of work. Just be genuine in your choices and tell us why you selected said artist. I look forward you list and everyone's else's choices.

The fun is not seeing twelve identical choices, but finding out about books/artists/writers you didn't know or had not thought highly of, or had simply forgotten. When someone writes about an artist or writer or story he or she loves, it's compelling. Even if you only include a few on your list, please make one. Do it for us, icc!

Perhaps the best superhero comic artist in history.

I don't want to see 12 identical choices. I believe there are some 40-50 artists of merit that I am familiar with, and I look forward to seeing everybody choose a different set of 12 from the list of artists I approve of. That leaves room for everybody to have different choices, as long as we have at most 121,399,651,100 entries. Since that is almost twenty times the population of earth, I think we'll be fine. As long as all your choices meet my approval, we'll all be fine.

In more important news, I think I've settled on 12. Now it's just an ordering.

If the cartoonist is listed as co-plotter with another person, or two, is that considered the heavy lifting ? This cartoonist co-plotted and penciled a few stories. Would that count ? I think so, but I want to be sure when making my selections.

Depending on Kurt's reply, I think I've at least got it down to my top 12.

I've done nothing further on this since picking my initial list of 8 or 9 picks straight off the top of my head. I've been so busy with work lately (December is always mad busy for us musicians) that I've not had time to sit down and think about some contenders that may not have immediately jumped out at me. I really need to sit down and think about this because it's only a week away now.

No matter what Kurt says, I have every intention of cheating a little. I have at least one popular choice who did plenty of great "eligible" work, but who I truly love for some technically ineligible work, only because some other dude added some scripting after the heavy lifting had been done.
