I'm so up for this!  It's not hyperbole to say that this is one of my favourite things about the Xmas season. Straight off of the top of my head I've got a list of 8 or 9 contenders and I'm sure I'll think of more. One question to Cei-U!, when we pick a cartoonist, can we have chosen them for more than one book? Or are we supposed to just pick a cartoonist for what we consider to be his crowning achievement? |

Agreed. MRP alone has spoiled about half my list. So I can't change the stuff if people quoted me, but I did go back and add spoiler tags for those coming to this after this point and will offer apologies if I impinged on the suspense of people's choices. It was just hard for me to fathom people not being able to think of 12 cartoonists worthy of mention, let alone not being able to come up with 12 cartoonists of any sort. My enthusiasm for the topic bubbled over, mea culpa. The thing I love about the 12 days is its a chance for people to talk about the positives of comics and the love for it, rather than a lot of the griping we get in a lot of other threads and I was wallowing in the joy of the topic. -M Eh, I was being at least half facetious. |

I've narrowed my list down to a baker's dozen, so 1 will have to be cut. Still wrangling the order for 3-12 though. I may reread some stuff by those left off the list to see if I want to reconsider if I have time between now and the start though, so it's still malleable.

I can echo this. In fact I can say it may well be the best thing about the season. At the risk of being a Grinch, I pretty much hate Christmas. This and the fact that I'm going to get to see my Grandkidlets are the only things I'm looking forward too. |

I've got 19 on my list--re-ordered thinking of "favorite" rather than "best." There are two or three I feel bad didn't make the top 12, but I think it'll stay pretty steady. (I did add three names after thinking about MAD magazine, but none made the cut--not even Dave Berg.)
I'm focusing on people who worked mainly in multi-page formats. I could've had a couple panel gag artists on there otherwise.

My list is at 21 right now, including someone who worked at MAD, though that isn't what placed him on my list  Sometimes a single page or panel can convey more than a 20 page book. Depends on the creator and the work. I'm only considering one creator who worked in single panels, but he's worth the consideration. |

Didn't see this until today, but in between calls at work I've been making a list.
At the moment I've got double and have to cut it down. Comic books, strips and comix will all be there, with most of mine being strips.
Deceptively easy at first and frustrating to pick my 12.
Yes, I too love this for the Christmas season. Sorry I didn't catch on to it years ago on CBR.

This list is probably much, much harder than the one that we did for Halloween a mere more than a month ago. I had to rack my brains out to make sure everything is what Cei-U had asked us to do. Ranking them #12 up to #1 was very difficult because I love the work of each of these creators put their hearts into it. It's like taking all your Number 1 and ranked them in order because every single one of them deserve to be Number 1. That's how tough it is for me. Can't wait to start it off tomorrow ... |
