So reviving another thread from over CBR way... This is not new, but I had bought it shortly before I moved out form CT to Ohio and never unpacked it until I came across a box of stuff this past weekend... A Spirit action figure from Graphiti Designs complete with a Denny Colt gravestone, switchable heads and Eisner stylee lettering spelling out SPIRIT to display... -M

I like that. I've started buying LEGO LoTR sets. It feeds my love of stylized toys, and I enjoy putting them together so that's an advantage over the vinyl stuff I used to buy. Of course, I also spend A LOT more per purchase. This is $200, but it comes with a nine inch Ent and Ornthac has six floors (can't tell in that pic).

I've sold off most of my collection at our street sale last year but did keep a small box of miscellaneous stuff as well as a collection of Star Wars toys. I wish I would have taken more pictures of the stuff I sold off because there was some really cool stuff there. One of the few pieces I decided to keep was this set of Marvel vehicles. They're not in great shape but I still think they're pretty interesting. The Captain America motorcycle has handle bars that turn the front wheel and the kick stand is retractable. The windows of the Doctor Doom mobile used to open vertically but are currently stuck in place.

I guess these aren't technically toys, but they're collectables that are sold by a toy company. Anyway, I really want that Red Skull.

That looks really familiar. I've been tempted to try more complicated model kits, but I enjoy the simplicity of LEGO.

The only Star wars model kit I ever had was this one... which I got for my birthday in 1978 (it may have been a different packaging as MPC reissued it a few times). It was a glue kit not a snap kit. My dad and I used to work on WWII era model kits a lot as a kid, mostly planes but a few tanks, half-tracks, etc., but because of my enthusiasm for Star Wars he got this one for me. unfortunately it was a bit more complicated than the models we had been doing, and we never finished it. I think it was around that time that the model kids switched form military themes to modern vehicles (muscle cars and trucks) and petered out soon afterwards as I discovered other interests (role playing games and miniatures primary among them). -M

Picked this up today... Was at Wal-Mart running an errand for my wife-she was having a bad day at work and is a huge fan of Rocket. I had eyed the set for a while, but it was too pricey, but today, it was in the clearance section so I bought it for her to have a Rocket and Groot to put on her desk. -M

This thread reminded me of something....when did Lego-esque Minimates start becoming variant covers? Anyone know the story behind it? I got one of these Diamond summit variants of a certain new #1 and there's MM Spidey.....

Marvel did a bunch of Lego variants in Sept 2013 to coincide with the release of the Marvel Lego video game. Their press release/story is here... Marvel.com story

I'd be worried having Daredevil as my helicopter pilot...
