I saw this on a retro site, I was unaware of this until now: I remember that ad well, you'd see that in several comic books back when that line of figures came out in 1983. I didn't have the figures, I don't remember any of my friends with them either, don't think I ever actually saw them in person (if I did at the store, I don't remember that either). It’s good that there’s still new stuff to learn about. I mentioned Galoob’s Defenders of the Earth range, and it was the first time Shaxper had heard of them. I'm not actively buying statues anymore, and have even debated downsizing that part of my collection, but if I were to buy one more, this would be it. I regret not picking it up when it came out, these don't come up for sale that often.  |

Vaguely aware of these:   I wasn’t interested in these as a kid. They seemed to bear little relation to the films. I mean, does Captain Harris look like his film equivalent? Does anyone? As a kid, I would not have known the term “cash cow” but this felt like one. I mean, who is Kingpin? What film was he in? I guess these toys are based more on the animated series, but don’t 99% of the population identify more with the theatrical movies? I just have this mental image of a better line of Police Academy figures… |
