It's a nice set, but it went up for preorder almost 2 years ago, and Mezco collected their money then, so it's been a long time making it to market, and I know a lot of folks who preordered it are not that happy with Mezco right now and will not preorder anything form them again. -M

Goodwill gets eroded, eh?
There’s a company called Zombie Sailor, which did some retro WWF figures. I just saw nothing but complaints about pre-orders, money, etc. (On Facebook). With any product, I don’t mind cash going out if I’m gonna get it in 3 or even 6 months - any longer and the goodwill is eroded.
There was even a company that kept people waiting (again, wrestling figures), and the guy put out an e-mail saying he was dealing with family issues. That’s regrettable and on a human level, easy to sympathise with, but at the end of the day, when money has gone out of your bank, you want the product in a timely fashion.
It seems some companies operate a certain way with money being taken out. I could book a supermarket home delivery 3-4 weeks in advance, but the money only goes out on the day the groceries are delivered. I’ve pre-ordered products and had the cash go out close to the shipping date, while some companies, like the one you mention, take the money and keep you waiting. Goodwill is so hard to come by.

With any kind of preorder/crowdfunding, I am ok with up to 1 year for fulfillments. Especially if they are doing preorders before something goes into production so they can determine the size of the production run. It takes tome with a toy to do the tooling to get it ready for production (the more money available the better the tooling can be so waiting to see what productions runs are going to be can affect quality of tooling so it may not be done before the product is solicited beyond a few handmade prototypes). It takes time to get a slot in manufacturing production lines unless you have a standing steady business relationship with a producer and constantly have items in production. You can sometimes have to wait 6-8 months to get a production slot if you don't have such a relationship. It takes time for assembly after the parts are manufactured, and time to paint. And shipping times in the current global market are always extremely variable. So I get it takes time between. But more than a year is a big ask. Especially in the current economic climate. Disposable income is limited, and its a zero sum game in a lot of cases, if I spend my money on this I can't spend it on that, and if you are asking me to spend 2 years before I get something, especially when you gave a much earlier expected fulfillment date, yeah, people aren't going to be happy. -M

Has Mezco offered any rationale for the delay?

Has Mezco offered any rationale for the delay? Nope. And they kept a steady flow of new products and preorders, some of which were delivered before the Superman set. The suspicion is other things got higher preorders and were pushed up the schedule because Mezco would make more money on them and they wait for down window to produce the lesser ordered products, which on one level I get as a business decision to maintain revenue streams, but it's terrible customer service to keep folks in the dark and to keep taking their money for other things when you haven't delivered promised goods. -M

So I haven't got any DC guys for a long time... I don't really have a spot in my house anymore (which is whey the Marvel Retro guys are hanging on the wall in the package. But I might have to make an exception.. Macfarlane Toys is doing the Titans!
Nightwing, Donna Troy, Raven, and Arsenal with oversized Gorilla-like Beast Boy as the build-a-figure. The only glitch is the costumes are current ones, not the George Perez ones.. the Donna one is actually great (I think its from the last Titans run)... Arsenal is the Baseball cap and shades version they've used since New 52, and Raven, is, well, kinda ugly to be honest.
Still, though, if they were to do Starfire, Cyborg, Jericho and Terra next... I might have to buy them.

Is the age of Funko nearing it's end? They are cash short and cannot afford their warehousing costs, s o they are dumping close to $30 million in unsold inventory into a landfill to lower warehousing costs. -M

I remember maybe 5 years ago or so, my LCS in Columbus was heading to NY Comic Con where they had a booth, and I asked them how much inventory they were bringing. They said no comics at all, just Funko Pops because that was where all the money was. I guess nothing lasts forever, again they've had quite the ride.

Not that I wouldn't still want it if it ever did come out, just not getting my hopes up. Same thing with this Space: 1999 figure, while it's the coolest Commander Koenig I've ever seen, it's been listed forever and I've kind of lost hope. www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/106265

They got way too big while too much of their sales was based upon market speculation. It was all destined to come toppling down. I'm just surprised it took this long.

Most underrated toy line ever: I often think about how many properties certain licensees had (not necessarily at the same time). For instance, Galoob did Micro Machines, WCW, Defenders of the Earth, etc. A quick check of Wikipedia reveals that Hasbro acquired Galoob in 1998. I didn't even know this line existed, and I consider myself a bit of a vintage action figure expert. Was it 3.75" scale? Galoob also did the initial line of Star Trek: The Next Generation before the license moved to Playmates. While the sculpts and details were extremely lacking, I thought they made an outstanding shuttlecraft vehicle: The Playmates figures were odd in their own way. I prefer the galoob line for the 3.75" scale. These guys can interact with my Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures, as well as the new Kenner Marvel Legends. Right after college, I worked to design a children's "hand's on" science museum. Lots of graphics, murals, instructions, and even some exhibit design. I stayed on for years, and eventually we developed an entire floor of "Exploring Mars" exhibits. This included a life-size carbon-copy of the small shuttle from Next Gen. It was big enough for 6 kids and a wheelchair to comfortably fit inside, with a flight sim to make you feel like you were flying to and landing on Mars. The exterior was as close to the proportions of the shuttle as we could manage, with light up nacelles, etc. Wish I had pics of it. It was later destroyed in a fire.

I wonder if you could google images of it. Seems like someone would have posted such pictures at some point.
