I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not - I could see it both ways - but I was wondering if we might want to have a dedicated sub forum for all the review threads? It would be easier and cleaner to find the review thread we're looking for if they were all in one place.
I'm not sure it's necessary, as it's been working fine this way for years, but it might be cool.

We discussed branching into other subforums somewhere else in the Help Desk and pretty much decided to keep things status quo for now in order to make the transition smoother and then discuss changes as things begin to return to normal.
Personally, I like having it all in one. Everyone sees every topic; they don't have to go explicitly looking for them.

I think it's all about traffic. If there are enough active threads so that they don't fit on one page, you might as well organize them. If not, it's easier to have them in one spot.
If there was going to be a 2nd area, review threads would definitely be it

The sticky index idea mentioned in another thread would probably serve the same purpose, more or less.

It would I don't like a lot of static informational stickies, though. It can tend to feel like clutter
. What I did once that worked really well is to sticky EVERY thread (this is if a review forum was created). That way the threads are always in the same place. It's really good until you have more than a page worth

The sticky index idea mentioned in another thread would probably serve the same purpose, more or less. This is my preferred solution. I did often find it a bother to hunt for threads and a subforum would make them easier to find. But it also might cause them to be missed by the casual reader not looking for them. I don't like too sticky-heavy tops, but a couple don't hurt. Links to the review threads seems worthy of one of the coveted sticky spots.

I've seriously reconsidered the idea of creating a sub-forum for reviews. It might be worth trying.
However, the first few days here are going to have much more conversational traffic than what will eventually be the norm. I'd rather wait and see at this point, see where the new norm is, and then get a better sense of what kind of organization is needed.
Let things die down a bit first.

I like the review threads and I like having them as part of the main conversation, not a separate conversation-unto-themselves.

There's two somewhat competing issues: 1) People looking for review threads finding them. 2) People not looking for review threads finding them.
I feel 1) is easier in a separate forum because they are more likely to be on page 1.
I feel 2) is easier in the main forum where people just stumble across them among the threads they were looking at anyway. I could imagine for example somebody aware of the review threads but not interested in the current crop. And thus not regularly checking the subforum to see if there are new ones. But if "review thread devoted to favorite character" just shows up on the page he's looking at anyway, then he'll notice and give it a click.
As a workaround to making the threads easier to find for the people who are looking for them, I liked the sticky-with-links suggestion.
Obviously the counterargument there is the legitimate fear of too many stickies, as the old classics board once had.

I don't think a sticky thread is going to get people that aren't specifically look for it to read a given thread. That's more for people who know the thread exists.

For right now, I think our focus needs to be on getting those reviews threads preserved and moved over to this community.
Once we have the content back, I'm very happy to look into all the options that have been placed on the table.
As it stands, I figure I have 50 hours of reposting to do in the next 9 days. I don't know how I'm going to do it all, and I'm hoping like heck that all the great threads that weren't started by me will be similarly preserved by their OPs.

I'm working on saving my stuff, but I'm not sure about reposting. My Wonder Woman thread, while not as long as some of your review threads, was 34 pages. I think I would throw myself off a bridge if I tried to repost all of that manually. I am saving it all to my computer, though. So if I do decide to repost stuff, I won't be under a time crunch. I wouldn't kill myself getting stuff reposted in the next 9 days if I were you, shax, but rather spend that time saving all the content so you can repost it later at your convenience.
