Blues musician and one of the great harmonica players James Cotton is dead at 81. Man, he's one of my favorites and my brother and I saw him perform back in the early 80's and I was mesmerized by his ability to play the harmonica and he was utterly sensational.

The Music Note threads will have videos and tributes to this 20th Century icon The first concert I ever went to was a Rock 'n' Roll Revival show in 1982 and Chuck Berry was one the headliners. Truly legendary player. Rest well good sir. -M

RIP to Chuck Barris, creator and producer of the Gong Show and many other game shows such as the Newlywed Game and the Dating Game If it was wild and zany in the 70s, there's a god bet Barris was involved.

I went to one taping of the Gong Show and I was laughing so hard at the end of it and I went to my Hotel Room with a headache that took me a couple of hours to get over it and that's delay my dinner until 9pm that day and he was really that good as a funny man.
Chuck Barris was unique and crazy.

Not a celebrity, not a historical mover and shaker; just a warm, loving cat who helped her Human, Barb, through clinical depression, homelessness, the sudden death of a parent, and gave her countless moments of joy and affectionate "headbutts."
RIP Girlie
I'll miss your head sticking through the blinds, the sound of you vacuuming up your food (instead of chewing it), the dignified sound of you sauntering down the stairs, bandaging my wounds after you were finished "playing" with me, hearing the thump as you jump into the climber and the gurgling noise you'd make when I tried to pet you and we would play the game of "swat the hand."

So sorry to hear this. We have two cats we love immensely and will miss terribly when their time comes, so I can only imagine how hard this is for you.

My sympathies. I still miss my pets that are no longer with me. That is a special bond we have.

codystarbuck Sorry that you lost your beloved cat and I understand exactly how you feel today because I remember losing my beloved Dog just like it was yesterday - over 30 years ago. Like md62 said ... it's a special bond we have. Nicely said by him.

Thanks everyone. This is two cats in under a year. The first, Mr Man, was sick, with deteriorating kidneys. He had a shorter life, but filled it with a big personality. Girlie lived to a very ripe old age (for a cat) and gave many years of love. She cuddled with my wife, Barb, all the time and storking her fur helped stabilize Barb's moods. In both cases though, they were suffering and that hurt more than seeing the empty spots around us. We're talking about adopting a new cat, so we can share a home with another great creature.
