George Michael dead at 53. He passed peacefully at his home. Police say nothing nefarious was involved. More details to come. he was hospitalized for Pnemonia back in 2011, all the reports on his passing are pointing out. which makes me think HiV/AIDS related. . . 53 is way to young to go tho, so something terminal was involved here, especially since they are saying nothing nefarious involved. a shame, tho I wasn't really a fan of his music, he was certainly talented. It seems it was expected by the term " died peacefully in his sleep". |

Sad to see the news about George Michael. I was never a big fan of his music (definitely not his Wham stuff, although I did like some of his solo efforts), but 53 is really young.
At least CNN took down the tacky headline they had for the story initially, which was "Last Christmas". Whatever douchebag approved that should have a pink slip in his mailbox first thing tomorrow morning.

Not sure if this already got a mention, but Rick Parfitt of Status Quo died a few days ago. I never knew their music that well, but I did enjoy the one album I used to listen to a bit, 1974's "Quo", which my older brother used to have. And of course Pictures of Matchstick Men is a great specimen of 60s English psychedelia.

Even if he had HIV, why would a person with access to medication develop full blown AIDS ? There are enough different meds available that the number of folks with truly resistant viruses is minuscule . Matter of fact, there are studies indicating that people with HIV may only still have a higher mortality rate because they also smoke and drink at a higher rate based on a "I have a lethal disease, why should I quit" mindset . I am a gay man who has been sexually active for a quarter of a century and I am perfectly healthy . I also know that a lot of folks around me thought I have AIDS when I had bronchitis this summer. And I don't like it. George Michael was repeatedly reported to use recreational drugs at an unhealthy rate, including being found passed out in his car. I find that a much more likely speculation about his death , if speculate we must. Heck, or skin cancer, considering his decades of excessive tanning. |

I was only noting that all the stories I saw brought up the Pneumonia from 2011 (and as a gay man of "that age". . I clearly recall the "Pneumonia" "code" in obituaries). you are absolutely correct, but unfortunately, that's was my first thought. (not justifying, just explaining) (and what makes it even harder to "justify" why I went there right away. . someone posted about his death to my wall.. assuming that because I'm a gay man, I was a fan and would want to know). So yeah, I guess there's something there I have to work thru. seems this morning they are now saying heart failure, which would support lots of abuse he put his body thru, I'd think. |

Those final pictures, taken of George Michael 3 months ago, are quite shocking. The man was bloated and unrecognizable, reminding one of Elvis' condition before he too passed away. The exact nature of his death will be forthcoming, most likely quite opposite fro what his p.r. agent and handlers are stating. There were certainly some severe medical issues that caused it
