She and Mavis Gallant are two highly-acclaimed Canadian shot-story writers I've been meaning to read for years. But I should finally get to something by each of them soon, having recently cleared up another big 20 century short story collection (of Irish writer Frank O'Connor) that I wanted to finish before embarking on anything else in that line.

Ah, another favourite of mine, if only for his self-inked work on Werewolf By Night and a few early Moon Knight solo stories

I just did a quick search in Mikes Amazing world to see how prolific he was. Ghost Rider, Defenders, Solar, Bloodshot, Transformers. He was all over the place. Comics has always needed solid, non Superstar types and he certainly was that.

He also was managing art director, so he was a big influence on a lot of young artists that came through Marvel in the 80s.

I will never be a fan of Perlin's art but I give him props for the clarity of his storytelling and the longevity of his career. It always saddens me whenever we lose one of the medium's reliable workhorses.
Cei-U! I lower the flag to half-mast!

David Sanborn, one of the most prolific saxophonists of recent decades, died May 12 after a six-year battle with prostate cancer. He was 78. The list of artists he worked with is long and varied. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sanborn

RIP to actor Dabney Coleman who passed at age 92. HE is perhaps best known for his roles in Tootsie and 9 to 5, but was a prolific performer.

Good role for him, one of my favourites. (So many tabloids and the like seem to imply that only David Vincent knew the truth about the invaders, but quite a few episodes showed others, such as Capt. Ross, learning about the threat). I really enjoyed his work. RIP

Coleman was in everything, when I was a kid.
I especially liked him in Bite the Bullet, as the son of the Newspaper baron who sponsored the race (and intends to win with his own horse. There is a great scene, where he talks about the West and proceeds to call all of the contestants liars and Candace Begrgen calls him out, saying he sure knows a lot about the West for someone who doesn't know shinola from apples, and he retorts, "We don't have to know about it, we own it." He more than holds his own with a great ensemble cast.

He was also the voice of Principal Prickly in Recess.

To me, Coleman will always be the horrible boss from 9 to 5. He was a superb comedic actor.
Cei-U! I summon the class act!
