RIP Carl CJ Snare lead vocalist of the band Firehouse. Passed at 64 from colon cancer. One of the few "hair" metal bands that still had hits in the 90s. Ballads that he wrote are some of the most used wedding songs in the last few decades. When I Look Into Your Eyes and Love of Lifetime. Also one of the nicest and approachable guys. Always had time to interact with his fans. Plus the band was still touring and he still sang with them despite getting treatment for his cancer.

R.I.P. to Peter Higgs, the Nobel Prize-winning theoretical physicist who proposed that broken symmetry in electroweak theory could explain the origin of mass of elementary particles in general and of the W and Z bosons in particular, and after whom the Higgs boson is named, who has passed away at the age of 94.

RIP to American Sumo Grand Champion Chad Rowan, aka Akebono, due to heart failure, at age 54. Rowan was Hawaiian, born in the islands and grew up a fan of sumo broadcasts. A family friend introduced him to Hawaii-an-born sumo Azumazeki Oyakata, aka Takamiyama, who was of Japanese descent and had reached the level of sekiwake, the third highest rank. Takiyama started his own training stable and had success with Konishiki, who rose to the rank of ozeki, the second highest level, but was denied elevation to the ultimate rank of yokozuna, in a controversial decision, which he accused as being racially motivated.
Akebono debuted in 1988 and was elevated to yokozuna in 1993, becoming the first non-Japanese to reach the rank. He retired from sumo in 2000; and, after a series of financial losses, took up an offer to fight in the K-1 kickboxing organization, which was hugely popular. He was signed to a fight with former NFL player and MMA fighter Bob Sapp, which drew 45,000 to the Nagoya Dome. Akebon dominated early, but stamina was an issue and Sapp won by KO, at 2:58. Akebono suffered further losses in K-1 fights, including one due to unsportsmanlike conduct, after hitting his opponent with hooks and rabbit punches, while he dropped to his seat, in the corner, then throwing him, later in the fight, all of which was banned under K-1 rules.
In 2005 he transitioned to pro wrestling, debuting for the WWE, in 2005, as a surprise opponent for Big Show (Paul Wight), and the pair faced each other at Wrestlemania 21. He then wrestled for All-Japan and New-Japan Pro Wrestling, the two top promotions, as well as several independents, before finishing his pro career at All-Japan and his own promotion, Odo, which was backed by Mokoto Baba, the widow of All-Japan founder Giant Baba. He closed his promotion in 2017, after heart issues and his health deteriorated from then on, robbing him of the use of his legs and memory lapses, where it was said he had no memory of his more recent pro wrestling career, but could recall sumo bouts.

A friendly reminder of our community rules when it comes to public figures :
(...) discuss others like their impressionable young son, daughter, niece, or nephew is reading, and definitely do not celebrate a person's tragedy or death, no matter who they were, what they did, or whether they'd gleefully say the same about you.
Thank you.

Eleanor Coppola, wife of Francis Ford Coppola and behind-the-scenes documentor of his films--most famously, her footage of the chaotic filming of Apocalypse Now got its own theatrical release as Hearts of Darkness--has died at 87.
Ben Stern, a holocaust survivor who lost his entire family to the Nazis and himself endured nine concentration camps and two death marches, and later prominently campaigned against hate speech, has died at 102.

I know its old news now, but I was truly saddened when Stan Lee passed away.I never met him, but I know he was a legend, not just for Marvel but also the comics industry as a whole. I felt the dedication at the beginning of "Captain Marvel" was a very respectable touch.
